Open Letter to Sir Mark Rowley, Metropolitan Police Commissioner – Yesterday You Were Anti-Semitic, Today you are Anti-Palestinian

Rowley Has Decreed that ‘Globalise the Intifada’ is A Crime – Today I Repeated It Twice in A Speech As Sussex Police Looked On

The attack on Jews at a Chanukah celebration in Australia has become the pretext for a crackdown on civil liberties and democratic rights. Mark Rowley, Metropolitan Police Commissioner is to the fore in calling for the suppression of the Palestine solidarity movement.

Sir Mark Rowley, the Heinrich Müller of the Met

Rowley, as part of his efforts to use British Jews as the Trojan horse for a Police State has repeatedly refused to meet with anti-Zionist Jews or the Palestine Coalition whilst meeting with pro-Genocide Zionist groups. For him, anti-racist Jews are as much the enemy as Palestinians.

Written evidence to Parliament by Palestine Solidarity Campaign states that

The MPS has so far refused repeated requests for an in-person meeting with representatives of the Jewish bloc and on at least two occasions the police have sought to prevent them joining the march on the grounds that, being Jewish, they were assumed to be counter demonstrators.

When people call out the racism of the Metropolitan Police we should remember that it began with colonial policing of the Irish, then moved onto Jews and is now manifested in  anti-Muslim and anti-Black racism.

On Sunday at midday I shall be one of 3 Jewish speakers at a webinar Scottish PSC is holding on the the killings in Australia. London’s Gestapo Commissioner Rowley, alongside his Manchester understudy Stephen Watson, announced that the chant ‘Globalise the Intifada’ was now an arrestable offence. In response I penned an open letter to Rowley.

Dear Mark Rowley,

You issued a statement recently which said that ‘Antisemitic hate crime has surged, protests have intensified, and online abuse has grown since 2023.’ This is the method of Nazism. Juxtaposing completely different phenomenon.  Everything equals everything.

Your concern about racism is touching, even novel, given that you have turned a blind eye to it for so long. In February 2025 you told BBC's Today programme: "The public can have confidence in us." Your only gift is knowing how to lie. The very police station Charing X, whose racism and misogyny led to the sacking of your predecessor, Cressida Dick, was the subject of a Panorama programme Undercover in the Police which confirmed that you were a liar. Racism and sexism were everywhere.

As long as the Metropolitan Police are led by a racist there is no hope of reform. You have made it clear that the only racism you are interested in is ‘anti-Semitism’ – a prejudice not a form of racism. Attacks on Mosques and Muslims and Black people are no concern of you. The only ‘racism’ that concerns you is that against privileged White people .

The implication of your remarks were clear. Protests against genocide were responsible for the growth of anti-Semitism and on-line abuse. Such a sleight of hand is worthy of Goebbels and is indicative of nothing so much as your own dishonesty.

There is no evidence of a growth of anti-Semitism, unless you redefine it as opposition to Zionism, ethnic cleansing and genocide. But let us assume I am wrong and there is a growth in anti-Semitism, why is that?

The Israeli government and the Zionist movement have branded all opposition to the genocide in Gaza as ‘anti-Semitism’. If you oppose starving children you are anti-Semitic. Is it any wonder that some people believe them and then target Jews?

No one knows better than you the history of the Metropolitan Police. From the murder of Stephen Lawrence to the murder and rape of Sarah Everard and the canteen culture of Charing Cross Police, to say nothing of all the Black people you have murdered in the line of duty (Roger Sylvester, Mark Duggan, Chris Kaba et al.).

Senior Police officers even agreed to the police spying on the Stephen Lawrence Defence Campaign. A fish rots from the head down and the precondition of the Metropolitan Police reforming itself is your replacement.

When anti-Semitism was a genuine form of racism in the 1930s, anti-Semitism was rife amongst the Police. Today when Jews are the moral alibi and the pretext for the British ruling class support for Israel then ‘anti-Semitism’ is a concern of the Police.

When I asked Google’s AI ‘were the Metropolitan police antisemitic during the 1930s and sympathetic to the British Union of Fascists and National Socialists ’, which was led by Sir Oswald Moseley, the results were instructive and shed a light on your concern about ‘anti-Semitism’ now.

It is also instructive to refer to Daniel Sonabend’s book ‘We Fight Fascists’ about the fight of the mainly Jewish Anti-Fascist 43 Group after 1945 and the anti-Semitism of the Metropolitan Police.

It describes how the head of 'G' Division, Superintendent Charles Satterthwaite shouted 'Fucking Jew bastard!' at a Jewish anti-fascist Murry Silver as he repeatedly  beat him, whilst two of his officers held Silver against the wall.  Satterthwaite was described by one member of the 43 Group, Lennie Rolnick as a 'first class anti-Semite who would have done well at Belsen (concentration camp)’.

Historian Dave Renton found that anti-fascists were three times as likely to get arrested as fascists.  Sonabend asked why this was and his answer was ‘Widespread anti-Semitism in the Metropolitan Police force’. Nor was Satterthwaite the only officer who made regular reference to the faith of the anti-fascist disruptors he was arresting. Two young Group members from the East End, a hairdresser's assistant called Vidal Sassoon and his friend Mo Levy, had a particularly nasty run-in with the law, which Sassoon described in his autobiography.

One evening in Kilburn, we chased the fascists into a pub and were ourselves chased by the police. They arrested three of us. It took a long time to get to the police station which was only a few streets away. Two policemen held one of my comrades, Mo Levy, while a sergeant pounded him, beating him everywhere but the face, at the same time calling us 'dirty Jew bastards', 'fucking Yids who Hitler missed' and 'sons of foreign whores'.

Sonabend writes that

Knowing they were dealing with an institutionally anti Semitic organisation, the 43 Group's leadership were keen not to provoke the police. In fact, they went out of their way to be cooperative.’

Have the Police changed?  Yes in the sense they are no longer anti-Semitic, because the Jews are no longer on the left nor are they working class. Note that Sonabend described the Met as ‘institutionally anti-Semitic’ just as Black people in the 1980s and 1990s were to describe the Met as institutionally racist.

Jews have changed and the focus of the Met’s racism has changed but that is all. The Metropolitan Police have changed the target of their racism but they are still the same old  uniformed racists.

Today support for Israel and Zionism is the political rationale for their Islamophobia and anti-Muslim racism. Israel is the most anti-Muslim country in the world and has formed an alliance with anti-Muslim racists such as Tommy Robinson, who was an Israeli government guest recently as well as individuals such as Dutch fascist, Geert Wilders.

In your statement Mark you said that ‘Our thoughts are with those who lost their lives, their families and those injured,’ referring to Jewish victims of the Australian attack. Over 100,000 Palestinians have been killed and hundreds of thousands injured in Gaza.  Children have been starved to death.  Yet you haven’t even acknowledged the death and destruction in Gaza. Your thoughts are with Australian Jews but not Palestinian children. What other explanation for this is there other than racism? Palestinian lives don’t matter because they are an indigenous people, the victims of western colonialism.

In your pathetic statement you say of Jewish people that

Jewish children attend schools behind fences, guarded by security and routine police patrols. No community should have to live like this. That must change.’

Really?  If Jews are under siege it is a siege of their own and your making.  You are deliberately making Jews into targets as a justification for the British State's support for Genocide. They are your colonial pets, hostages for your own malevolent intentions. Jews are the justification for the State's increased repression.

You say ‘Current laws are inadequate’.  Really?  You have been given more and more powers yet always you are dissatisfied. Perhaps when we have a fully fledged police state you will be satisfied? Or maybe when juries are finally abolished so that servile judges can be relied upon to rubber stamp your arrests and prosecutions.

It is not for you to comment on the adequacy of the law. Still less is it for you to define that law. For most people the laws are already too repressive and we know from past experience that it will be trade unionists, climate protesters, housing activists - indeed anyone bar employers and the rich who will feel their effects.

What you want is a police state where people like you dictate the political agenda.  And speaking of dictating the political agenda you have all but outlawed chants such as “globalise the intifada”. Well I for one will make sure to include at least one mention of how the Intifada should be globalised.

That is why today at a demonstration in Hove outside the offices of Vile Kyle MP, I repeated the slogan ‘Globalise the Intifada’ to make it clear that we, not you, will decide what we say.  Sussex police officers just looked on. So are we to have different laws now for different cities?   The Intifada is an Uprising against an Illegal Occupation. It has nothing to do with British Jews, much as you would like to lay the blame for Israel’s genocide on Jews.

We will not allow you to dictate what we are allowed to say and not say. You are paid to implement the law not to make the law.

We refuse to be stampeded into a police state by those who use Jews as the pretext for abolishing freedom of speech. When the Police decide what we are allowed to say and not say then we are already on the road to dictatorship.

It is time to move on Mark Rowley. You belong in a museum alongside all the other dinosaurs such as your role model, Gestapo Chief Heinrich Muller. As long as you are head of the Metropolitan Police we can expect a continuation of the racism that led the Met 30 years ago to covering up for the killers of Stephen Lawrence.

Echoes of the Holocaust – Holocaust Survivors Compare Israel’s Treatment of the Palestinians To Their Own Experiences

Despite The Zionists Best Efforts, Holocaust Education Has Backfired on Them - Jewish Children Are Drawing the Lessons that Never Again Applies to Everyone!

Tony Greenstein on Hidden Link between Zionism and Antisemitism -  Palestine Chronicle Podcast

I was invited by the Palestine Chronicle to do a podcast on my book Zionism During the Holocaust and to talk about the relationship between Zionism and Anti-Semitism, both today and historically.

Zionism in its origins was a reaction to anti-Semitism and in particular the 1881 pogroms in Odessa that occurred because of the assassination of Czar Alexander II.

Echoes of the Holocaust - Holocaust Survivors Speak of their Anguish at Israel's Nazi-like Genocide

Zionism however was a reaction with a difference. Unlike most Jewish political currents it ‘understood’ anti-Semitism as the understandable reaction of non-Jews to the Jewish stranger in their midst. Zionism began with the belief that anti-Semitism could not be fought as it was inherent in the non-Jew. This was summed up by Leon Pinsker, the founder of the Lovers of Zion group in 1882 that

‘Judeophobia is then a mental disease, and as a mental disease it is hereditary, and having been inherited for 2,000 years, it is incurable

Pinsker was a doctor so he saw anti-Semitism as a phobia. If it was incurable why fight it?  At best you should need a palliative. The Zionist solution to anti-Semitism was a state of their own. It soon realised that the anti-Semites would be only too willing to help them. Their best friends became the very anti-Semites who had been staging the pogroms.

Both the Zionists and the anti-Semites agreed that Jews did not belong where they lived and both agreed that Jews should emigrate and form their own state. As the founder of Political Zionism Theodor Herzl noted in his Diaries in 1895:

The anti-Semites will be our most dependable friends, the anti-Semitic countries our allies.

And he was correct. There is no greater friend of Israel than Victor Orban, Hungary’s Prime Minister. Orban described the wartime ruler of Hungary, Admiral Horthy, as an ‘exceptional statesman’, despite having presided over the deportation of nearly half a million Jews to Auschwitz.  Orban waged an openly anti-Semitic election campaign in 2017 using George Soros, the Jewish billionaire as his scapegoat. Yet there is no European leader who is closer to Netanyahu and more supportive of the genocide in Gaza than Orban.

Budapest Deak Square Sculpture to the memory of Pastor Sztehlo Gábor (1909-1974) of the Lutheran Church who saved around 2000 Jewish children and adults during the rule of the fascist Arrow Cross Party

Throughout the two years of genocide the most ardent supporters of Zionism and the genocide have been the Islamaphobic right. People like Tommy Robinson and Geert Wilders. They may not like Jews but they love Israel. Donald Trump personifies this with his talk of American Jews not being loyal enough to Israel which is ‘their country’.

What is interesting is what my interviewer, Robert Inlakesh, brought up, about the dilemma expressed by Sarah Hurwitz, the former Obama speechwriter, member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Council and dedicated Zionist activist.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcRk3sQJbbA

Former Obama speechwriter faces backlash for pro-Israel comments | MEE Explains

Hurwitz’s speech on November 16, 2025, at the General Assembly of the Jewish Federations of North America in Washington set off a firestorm because she said out aloud what has been troubling Zionists privately, namely the contrast between holocaust education that teaches that the extermination of Europe’s Jews is wrong and the Holocaust in Gaza which Zionists believe is right.

Of course this wouldn’t be a problem if holocaust education was about how all racism, ethnic cleansing and genocide is wrong. The problem is that Holocaust education tries to combine two messages – exterminating people is bad but supporting Israel is good.  Except that Israel is also exterminating Palestinians, hence the dilemma.

Israel is seen as compensation for the holocaust. How to square this with the holocaust in Gaza perpetrated by that very same state? This is the ‘problem’ that Hurwitz tackled, admitting that her hasbara attempts to bridge the gap are making her seem ‘obscene’ to Jewish kids.

Budapest Deak Square Sculpture to the memory of Pastor Sztehlo Gábor (1909-1974) of the Lutheran Church who saved around 2000 Jewish children and adults during the rule of the fascist Arrow Cross Party

In her short rant she accepted that coming to young people with her data, facts and arguments when all they could see on their phones was carnage made her look obscene. Her solution was to confiscate the phones of young people!

This is exemplified by the fact that not one Holocaust Remembrance institution has condemned the Holocaust in Gaza. Indeed the Los Angeles Holocaust Museum actually apologised for suggesting that ‘Never Again’ applied to everyone, with the implication that Palestinians might be included.

The LA Holocaust Museum’s anodyne statement merely said “Never Again’ Can't Only Mean Never Again For Jews.”  This produced an avalanche of protest from racist Zionists who believed that ‘Never Again’ only meant Jews.

The Los Angeles holocaust museum’s pathetic apology read:

“We recently posted an item on social media that was part of a pre-planned campaign intended to promote inclusivity and community that was easily open to misinterpretation by some to be a political statement reflecting the ongoing situation in the Middle East. That was not our intent,”

Hurwitz achieved her moment of fame when she articulated the problems that Zionists like herself face.  How to portray Israelis in a good light when the lesson that most young people draw from holocaust education is equating strong Nazis persecuting emaciated Jews with strong Israelis persecuting skinny Palestinians.

Sarah Hurwitz Explaining Why She Sounds Obscene

"So you have TikTok just smashing our young people's brains all day long with video of carnage in Gaza. And this is why so many of us can't have a sane conversation with younger Jews because anything that we try to say to them, they are hearing it through this wall of carnage. So I want to give data and information and facts and arguments and they are just seeing in their minds carnage and I sound obscene... Holocaust education is absolutely essential. But I think it may be confusing some of our young people about antisemitism, because they learn about big, strong Nazis hurting weak, emaciated Jews, and they think, 'Oh, antisemitism is like anti-black racism, right? Powerful white people against powerless black people.' So when on TikTok, all day long, they see powerful Israelis hurting weak, skinny Palestinians, it's not surprising that they think, 'Oh, I know the lesson of the Holocaust is you fight Israel. You fight the big, powerful people hurting the weak people."

The family of Stephen Kapos, a holocaust survivor active in Palestine Solidarity politics, as they entered the Columbus Street camp

My book deals in some detail with the Zionist attitude to the holocaust. Zionism holds that the holocaust is unique.  Nothing like it has ever happened before nor will it happen again. The Holocaust is sui generis.  It cannot be compared. And if the holocaust is unique then one cannot draw any lessons from it, certainly no anti-racist lessons.  The only conclusion that one is permitted to draw is the one conclusion that is demonstrably false, namely that Israel was given to the Jews as compensation for 6 million dead.

The Nazi holocaust only happened to one people, the Jews, in Zionist eyes. The Roma, Russians, gays etc. suffered genocide maybe but certainly not holocaust. That is reserved for the Jews. Holocaust education is therefore formulated with those lessons in mind. Holocaust education is designed with the legitimation of Israel in mind. Holocaust memorial institutions have this as their main goal. Yad Vashem serves as the focus of this Holocaust State Worship.

In the Gaza Holocaust Yad Vashem has refused the entreaties of holocaust and genocide scholars to condemn the genocide in Gaza. Yad Vashem itself is presided over by a fascist settler, Dani Dayan, who Brazil refused to accept as Ambassador because of his racism and right-wing views.

In April 1976 John Vorster, South Africa's PM, Who was Interned as a Nazi Supporter, Visited Israel

Yad Vashem has entertained a bevy of neo-Nazis and anti-Semites beginning with the visit of Prime Minister of Apartheid South Africa, John Vorster in April 1976. Vorster was interned during the war because of his Nazi sympathies. Other visitors include Hungary’s far-right Prime Minister Orban, the Hitler loving Presidents of the Philippines and Brazil, Rodrigo Duterte and Jair Bolsanaro and assorted far rightists.

Zionism and Anti-Semitism go together like a hand and a glove. They make perfect partners.

How Zionism used the Nazi holocaust to justify Israel’s holocaust in Gaza

How the Zionists Rewrote the History of the Holocaust

Webinar Tuesday 12 November 2024

Last Tuesday Jewish Network for Palestine and the Socialist Labour Network held a webinar on how Zionism has rewritten the history of the holocaust in order to justify genocide in Gaza.

It is difficult to think of anything more disgusting than using the memory of the Jews who died at the hands of the Nazis to justify the murder of Palestinian children and their parents in Gaza.

The Western powers – the United States, Britain and especially the German state - are happy to go along with this rewriting of history. After all it lets them off the hook and avoids western leaders having to answer uncomfortable questions such as why the US and Britain refused to admit Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany.

Stephen Kapos and other descendants of holocaust survivors

A recent example of this is how the riot and racist attacks of the Tel Aviv Maccabi fans in the Netherlands was turned into a second Kristallnacht, the Nazi pogrom of November 9-10 when 100 Jews were murdered and nearly all synagogues were burnt to the ground.

This could only happen because the attacks by Israel’s racist thugs on Arabs in Amsterdam was conveniently ignored, just as Israel’s war crimes in Gaza are ignored. The chants of ‘Death to the Arabs’ ‘May Your Villages Burn’ and ‘There is no school in Gaza today because there are no children’ somehow disappeared down the memory hole of Starmer, Scholtz, Biden and the Netherland’s idiot Prime Minister Schoof.

Instead the fightback of Amsterdam residents who gave the Israeli thugs a deserved thrashing was paraded as an anti-Semitic pogrom.

There was nothing more sick than the fascist leader of the Netherlands, who leads its biggest parliamentary party The Freedom Party, Geert Wilders, bemoaning the ‘anti-Semitic’ attacks whilst using it as a pretext to call for the deportation of Moroccans living in the Netherlands.

Dutch Nazi Party (NSB) marching in Amsterdam

Netherlands had the highest rate of extermination of Jews of any Western country in the holocaust.  This was in part because it had a relatively strong fascist party the NSB, which helped the Gestapo winkle out Jews in hiding like Anne Frank. It doesn’t take much imagination to recognise that 84 years ago, Geert Wilders would not have been a member of the Communist Party which organised the strikes against the Jewish deportations. Geert Wilders would have been a prominent leader of the Dutch Nazi Party, the NSB. The idea that this fascist would have joined Dutch workers in their strike against the deportations is absurd.

Ursula von der Liar

The same is true of the far-right President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. A member of the Christian  Democrats, whose antecedents lie in the Weimar conservative parties including the anti-Semitic DNVP which helped put Hitler in power. If Von Der Liar had been alive 90 years ago she would have been a cheer leader for the Nazis but today Jews are a useful stalking horse for western imperialism in the Middle East.

We organised this webinar precisely because western leaders and its prostitute media have turned the Nazi holocaust into a justification for their war plans and racism.

Tom Suarez

The first speaker was Tom Suarez who has written two excellently researched books, State of Terror and Palestine Hijacked.  Tom described Zionism as a cult and Anti-Semitism as its drug. He described the cruel cynicism of Zionism which opposed all rescue plans for Jewish refugees from the Nazis that didn’t involve Palestine as its destination. He recalled the opposition of David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister, to the Kindertransport in 1938/9, after Kristallnacht, which saved 10,000 German Jewish children from death.

As Ben-Gurion explained to the Central Committee of Mapai, the Israeli Labour Party, on 9 December 1938:

If I knew that it would be possible to save all the children in Germany by bringing them over to England, and only half of them by transporting them to Eretz Yisrael, then I would opt for the second alternative. For we must weigh not only the life of these children, but also the history of the People of Israel.

Letter to the Jewish Chronicle  5 February 1993

This was the policy of the Zionist movement throughout the war. Another example he gave was of the deliberate sabotage of the efforts of Rabbi Dr Solomon Schonfeld, Chair of the Chief Rabbi’s Rescue Committee by the Board of Deputies, which at that time was controlled by the Zionists. Indeed its President Selig Brodestsky openly boasted of this sabotage. You can read about this in my book Zionism During the Holocaust.

HMS Patria

Tom described how the Haganah, the forerunner of the Israeli Occupation Forces, sank the Patria, because they preferred dead refugees to them being transported by the British to Mauritius. Over 250 of the 2,000 refugees died. The Haganah lied and claimed that the refugees themselves had sunk the boat because they preferred dying to living anywhere but Palestine. The habit of lying hasn't left them.

Tom emphasised how anti-Semitism is key to holding Jews in the diaspora in permanent fear, be it fake or genuine. The holocaust has been weaponised in order that Israel can continue its ethnic cleansing.

The Patria sinking in Haifa harbour

After the war the Zionists insisted that Jews be separated from non-Jews in the Displaced Persons camps and in the Jewish camps there was a reign of terror to force them to go, not to the United States or Britain but to Palestine. Those who didn’t want to go were beaten up and worse.

Rabbi Herzog, the Chief Rabbi of Palestine ran a kidnapping operation for Jewish children who had been placed with non-Jewish families during the war. They were torn from those families, regardless of their own wishes. In some cases children whose parents were in England were still forced to go to Palestine.

The second speaker was Haim Bresheeth, the Israeli academic who was recently arrested by the police in London as part of their attacks on Palestine solidarity supporters. The third speaker was Tony Greenstein, author of Zionism During the Holocaust and the final speaker was Stephen Kapos, who was a child survivor of the Hungarian holocaust. He was sheltered by a Christian group in Budapest.

Stephen Kapos

The session was chaired by Esther Giles from the Socialist Labour Network. On January 27 we will be holding a similar meeting on Holocaust Memorial Day. We are determined not to allow the Zionists a monopoly over the holocaust narrative in order to use one holocaust to justify more holocausts.

Israel’s Genocide in Gaza has Nothing to Do with the Holocaust & Everything To Do with the Shock That Comes When The Oppressed Rise Up

Israel suffers, not from Holocaust Trauma but the Trauma of Self-Induced Victimisation

Electronic Intifada has just published my article Israel’s Holocaust trauma is a myth. It looks at the claims of Israel’s supporters and Zionism that October 7 represented a ‘second Holocaust’.

In the article I argue that it is not Holocaust trauma but the trauma of settler-colonials, for whom the rising up of the indigenous Palestinians, is their nightmare scenario. I compare Israel’s situation with that of the Caribbean slave owners and South Africa’s Whites.

In the Times of Israel two Israeli holocaust academics,

Just as the Nazis aimed to annihilate the Jews, Hamas and affiliated terrorist organizations share the same objective: the destruction of Jews.

White 'trauma' in Kenya led Britain to set up a series of concentration camps

It is an evidence free assertion. What do they base this claim on? The 1988  Hamas Charter. It is true that the 1988 Hamas Charter referred to Jews and was anti-Semitic but the point is that it never informed the practice and politics of Hamas and in 2017 was discarded in favour of a ‘“Document of General Principles and Policies’.

Of course the think tanks of US imperialism have done their best to suggest that the changes are cosmetic. As Mandy Rice-Davies of Profumo fame once said, they would say that wouldn’t they. It is in the interests of Zionism to portray Hamas as a genocidal, anti-Semitic organisation.

Matthew Levitt and Maxine Rich of the neo-con Washington Institute for Near East Policy argue in ‘Hamas's Moderate Rhetoric Belies Militant Activities’

The international community should judge Hamas not by any moderation in the group's rhetoric but by its actions on the ground. So long as the latter remain militant and extreme, the relative moderation of the former means not much at all.

What concerned them was not that Hamas had abandoned its anti-Jewish rhetoric but that they were still militantly opposed to Israel’s occupation, siege and subjugation of the Palestinian people.

This is typical of the dishonesty of western academics who conflate the Nazi’s extermination of Jews with opposition to Israeli settler colonialism. The suggestion being that Hamas and the Palestinians oppose Israel’s Jewish Supremacist regime not because of what it does but because their oppressors happen to be Jewish!

Amira Hass in Ha’aretz explained the background to the original Charter and how it came to be adopted and the fact that it had little influence on Hamas’s day to day practice or ideological outlook.

The new document contains none of the anti-Semitic articles and sentences that characterized the charter. Supporters of the movement, especially in the West, advised it long ago to change these provisions.

One Hamas member told Haaretz that almost immediately after the charter was published in 1988, people in the movement urged that these sections be changed. The charter wasn’t written in a cooperative process, he explained, and it isn’t “scientifically or legally” accurate.

He said the Hamas members deported to Marj El Zhour in Lebanon in 1992-93 were the first to seriously discuss the need for changes. But the changes were never made because doing so required a lengthy, complex process of thought and consultation during difficult periods of military escalation.

The charter itself hasn’t been canceled. It’s a historic document that relates to a particular moment in the organization’s history, and Hamas isn’t renouncing it; nor is the new document called a “charter.” Cancelling the charter would repeat the humiliation undergone by the PLO when it had to announce the repeal of certain provisions of its 1968 charter because they contradicted the Oslo Accords. But the Hamas charter is no longer the organization’s official ideological platform.

As I said in my article

‘Presumably if Gaza’s occupiers had been Christians then the Palestinians would have happily accepted their fate!’.

Levitt and Rich typify the superficiality of the ‘academics’ that adorn American think thanks and universities. To say nothing of Israel’s fake holocaust ‘scholars’ such as Patt and Steir-Livny.

Nazi anti-Semitism targeted Jews because they were Jews and extermination was a culmination of a process that began with ethnic cleansing. When Hamas attacked Jews it was understandable because Israel’s soldiers came to their homes to kill them in the name of ‘the Jews’. That is why Palestinians refer to Yahud (Jew) because that is how their oppressor appears to them.

However Hamas matured in the 30 years between the 1988 Charter and the 2017 document. They learnt to distinguish between Jews and Zionists. Nor was this simply a matter of rhetoric or verbal accommodation.

No less than the Times of Israel quoted a statement of senior Hamas official Basem Naim that the group was “sorry to hear about the terror attack” in 2018 on the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh which claimed 11 lives. Naim explained that

As Palestinians and victims of the terror of Israeli occupation, we know the meaning of terror and its horrific outcomes. This heinous attack, especially in a place of worship, proves that terror has no religion or nationality.

Can one imagine the Nazi party condemning an attack on Jews? The attack was  perpetrated by Robert Bowers, a supporter of Donald Trump, an ardent supporter of the Israeli state.

In an article in the Guardian Hamas condemns the Holocaust Naim made this explicit:

at the same time as we unreservedly condemn the crimes perpetrated by the Nazis against the Jews of Europe, we categorically reject the exploitation of the Holocaust by the Zionists to justify their crimes and harness international acceptance of the campaign of ethnic cleansing and subjection they have been waging against us - to the point where in February the Israeli deputy defence minister Matan Vilnai threatened the people of Gaza with a "holocaust".

The Nazi state had journals and papers devoted to propagating anti-Semitism. It established and funded ‘scientific’ institutes whose task was to ‘prove’ that Jews were subhuman. Pivotal to the attempts to set Nazi ideology on a scientific basis was the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute of Anthropology, Human Heredity, and Eugenics. The Institute was founded with money from America’s Rockerfeller Foundation whose money kept it going during the Great Depression.

Eugen Fischer - from genocide in Africa to the Holocaust

Eugen Fischer, who first began with medical experiments on the Herero and Nama people at Shark Island concentration camp in SW Africa (Namibia), the first genocide of the 20th century, went on to train SS doctors such as Joseph Mengele, the Auschwitz doctor.

Hamas has never sought to establish ‘academic’ institutions whose purpose was to theorise anti-Semitism. Hamas make a sharp distinction between Jews and Zionists. Many of the released captives testified to their humane treatment at the hands of Hamas. These are very strange Nazis!

Those who equate Hamas with the Nazis or suggest that their goal is the elimination of Jews are projecting their own genocidal thoughts onto their victims. In is one more case of serial Zionist dishonesty.

I quote in my article Hannah Starman, who as a child was baffled at Israel’s portrayal of the people they were bombing in Beirut as Nazis. Hannah was only 7 but as she said:

when I looked among the images of people in Beirut to find the Nazis, all I could see were people who looked poor, quiet or scared.

Nothing like the tall and erect Nazis, shouting out orders in their uniforms and shiny boots. I was confused. And this confusion bred a lifelong interest in what was really going on in Israel. How could a people that had suffered so much cause so much suffering? Why were they telling the world that they were fighting the Nazis? And why did the world believe them?

What a child could see with her own eyes, Biden, Sunak, Starmer, Scholtz and the other war criminals are unable to see. Not because they are blind but because they have deliberately created a narrative that portrays the victims of genocide as ‘Nazis’.

What western leaders are unwittingly doing is normalising the Nazis which is one reason why so many neo-Nazis today, like the White Zionist  Richard Spencer and Dutch political leader Geert Wilders, adore the Israeli state.

It is also the reason why Germany’s leaders have fallen over themselves in the rush to endorse Israel’s genocide. It is ironic that the ‘Jewish state’ is helping to rehabilitate the Nazis but when one looks at the history of the period, alone amongst the Jews the Zionists saw only good coming out of the Nazi rise to power.

As David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister remarked ‘The Nazis’ victory would become “a fertile force for Zionism.” ‘ [Tom Segev, The Seventh Million, p. 18].
