The Massacre of Jews in Sydney, Australia Should Be Condemned Without Reservation by all Supporters of the Palestinians

The Responsibility for their Deaths Belongs to those Governments and Zionist Groups Which Deliberately Associate Jews with the Genocide in Gaza

Times of India Report on Shooting Attack on Jewish Community on Bondi Beach

The attack on a Chanukah celebration on Sydney’s Bondi Beach should be condemned by all supporters of the Palestinians and anti-Zionists. It was an anti-Semitic attack without any justification.

The fact that Zionist organisations in Britain and Australia deliberately set out to associate Jews with Israel’s genocide in Gaza is no excuse for attacks on Jews as Jews.

Israel attacks children playing football in a Gaza school killing 39 'terrorists' – this is what Zionist groups in the diaspora support

This association is not limited to Zionist organisations. The British government under war criminal Starmer also does its best to draw the link between Jews and Israel’s atrocities. They deliberately use Jews in this country, as does the Australian government, as the moral alibi for Israel’s atrocities.

The Metropolitan Police, whose origins lie in colonial policing in Ireland, are to the fore in associating Jews with Israel’s genocidal attack on Gaza. Their pretext for preventing a Palestine solidarity demonstration near the BBC in January was the presence of a Jewish synagogue nearby. In doing this they deliberately associated Jews with Israel’s murder of children and Palestinian civilians.

The Met is so stupid that their officers even formed a ‘protective cordon’ around the Jewish Bloc on the Palestine march in December 2023 to ‘protect them’ from other marchers on the assumption that being Muslim or a Palestinian supporter made one anti-Semitic.

Thus was born the lie that led to two individuals in Australia taking the lives of 16 Jewish people. It is ironic that the death toll may have been more but for the heroic actions of Ahmed al Ahmed, a local fruit shop owner, in taking a rifle from one of the attackers. Ahmed was himself shot twice in the process.

The Muslim Hero of Bondi Beach - Ahmed al Ahmed

Ahmed is a Muslim from Idlib in Syria, thus giving the lie to the accusation that there is a connection between being a Muslim and anti-Semitism. It is noticeable that mainstream news coverage fails to mention this fact though they are normally eager to mention the religion of killers (as long as they are not Christian).

Even the Jerusalem Post was forced to describe Ahmed as belonging to the ‘righteous among the nations’, that group of non-Jews who risked their own lives to save Jews during the holocaust, though they too failed to mention his religion.

Ahmed would not however have been awarded the title of ‘righteous among the nations’ by Yad Vashem, Israel’s holocaust propaganda museum. Yad Vashem has supported the genocide in Gaza by denying that it is a genocide, like good holocaust deniers. Khaled Abdul Wahab, the ‘Arab Schindler’, who rescued many Tunisian Jews, was denied the award because he was an Arab.

In 2009 on the BBC’s Big Questions I said that

Of course there’s no justification for antisemitism, but there’s also no justification for the Board of Deputies calling rallies in support of the invasion of Lebanon and Gaza in the name of the British Jewish community. That causes antisemitism. It associates every Jewish person with the terror in Lebanon and Gaza.

That is exactly what happened with the massacre in Sydney. The New South Wales Board of Deputies is vocal in its support of Israel’s genocide. It is highly likely that those who committed this atrocity did so because they associated Australian Jews with the horrors of Gaza.  The hypocrisy of Netanyahu in attributing the massacre to anti-Semitism when he and his bastard state have been the prime agents in causing that anti-Semitism is nauseating hypocrisy.

The reality is that Zionism and the Israeli state have no problem with anti-Semitism in other countries because it stimulates Jewish immigration to Israel. In my book, Zionism During the Holocaust I quoted Abraham Shpadrong who wrote in Davar in July 1952 that:

… if I had the power, as I have the will, I would select a score of efficient young men… and I would send them to the countries where Jews are absorbed in sinful self-satisfaction. The task of these young men would be to disguise themselves as non-Jews, and plague these Jews with anti-semitic slogans, such as 'Bloody Jew,' 'Jews go to Palestine,' and similar 'intimacies.' I can vouch that the results, in terms of considerable immigration to Israel from these countries, would be ten thousand times larger than the results brought by thousands of emissaries who have been, for decades, preaching to deaf ears.

Nor was this an isolated example. In Israel people such as the notorious racist rapper Yoav Eliasi (The Shadow) justified the murder of 11 Jewish people in the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. Yotam Kipnis wrote about how ‘Eliasi blamed American Jews for the Pittsburgh murders and European Jews for the Holocaust’.

Eliasi wrote on Facebook that the Pittsburgh murderer Bowers “was a man fed up with subversive progressive Jewish leftists injecting their sick agendas” into the US.

brings in infiltrators that destroy every country. The murderer was fed up with people like you. Jews like you brought the Holocaust and now you’re causing anti-semitism. Stop bringing in hate money from Soros.

Eliasi is known for his far-right views and is a member of Netanyahu’s Likud party. He is also a Jewish anti-Semite but one Netanyahu likes.

It is ironic that whereas the ‘anti-Semitic’ Hamas condemned the Pittsburgh massacre, the Israeli government and Netanyahu in particular were hesitant to do so. These were the wrong sort of Jews. Israel’s Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi David Blau, refused even to recognise that those killed were Jewish, because they were Reform Jews.

Another aspect of Zionist ideology is the belief that the Jews of Europe were responsible for the Holocaust. By choosing to live amongst non-Jews they brought the disaster on themselves. Zionism holds that all non-Jews are inherently anti-Semitic.

These are the sick fantasies that Zionists harbour amongst themselves but seek to hide from the glare of publicity. There will be many in Israel who will welcome what happened in Australia.

That is why any supporter of the Palestinians who welcomes the massacre of Jews in Sydney, notwithstanding that many of them will have supported the genocide in Gaza, needs their head examining. The massacre can only strengthen the genocidaires, not weaken them.

Supporting the massacre in Sydney, apart from being an immoral and racist, terrorist attack on civilians, would be the height of stupidity and irresponsibility. It strengthens not weakens Zionism.

It is irrelevant if London-born rabbi Eli Schlanger, who was killed, was a genocide supporter. Pictures of Schlanger celebrating with members of the murderous IDF do not justify what happened. That Schlanger was a despicable racist who was pictured with an Israeli rifle makes no difference. He died in Australia not in Israel.

We should leave it to Israel to take pride in the massacre of children and civilians and we should also note the hypocrisy of our own British politicians and members of the judiciary like Stephen Males and Karen Steyn who ruled that the government can export parts for the F35 and other weapons despite the fact that they would be used to commit war crimes. The crimes of British judges are many.

Echoes of the Holocaust – Holocaust Survivors Compare Israel’s Treatment of the Palestinians To Their Own Experiences

Despite The Zionists Best Efforts, Holocaust Education Has Backfired on Them - Jewish Children Are Drawing the Lessons that Never Again Applies to Everyone!

Tony Greenstein on Hidden Link between Zionism and Antisemitism -  Palestine Chronicle Podcast

I was invited by the Palestine Chronicle to do a podcast on my book Zionism During the Holocaust and to talk about the relationship between Zionism and Anti-Semitism, both today and historically.

Zionism in its origins was a reaction to anti-Semitism and in particular the 1881 pogroms in Odessa that occurred because of the assassination of Czar Alexander II.

Echoes of the Holocaust - Holocaust Survivors Speak of their Anguish at Israel's Nazi-like Genocide

Zionism however was a reaction with a difference. Unlike most Jewish political currents it ‘understood’ anti-Semitism as the understandable reaction of non-Jews to the Jewish stranger in their midst. Zionism began with the belief that anti-Semitism could not be fought as it was inherent in the non-Jew. This was summed up by Leon Pinsker, the founder of the Lovers of Zion group in 1882 that

‘Judeophobia is then a mental disease, and as a mental disease it is hereditary, and having been inherited for 2,000 years, it is incurable

Budapest Deak Square Sculpture to the memory of Pastor Sztehlo Gábor (1909-1974) of the Lutheran Church who saved around 2000 Jewish children and adults during the rule of the fascist Arrow Cross Party

Pinsker was a doctor so he saw anti-Semitism as a phobia. If it was incurable why fight it?  At best you should need a palliative. The Zionist solution to anti-Semitism was a state of their own. It soon realised that the anti-Semites would be only too willing to help them. Their best friends became the very anti-Semites who had been staging the pogroms.

Both the Zionists and the anti-Semites agreed that Jews did not belong where they lived and both agreed that Jews should emigrate and form their own state. As the founder of Political Zionism Theodor Herzl noted in his Diaries in 1895:

The anti-Semites will be our most dependable friends, the anti-Semitic countries our allies.

And he was correct. There is no greater friend of Israel than Victor Orban, Hungary’s Prime Minister. Orban described the wartime ruler of Hungary, Admiral Horthy, as an ‘exceptional statesman’, despite having presided over the deportation of nearly half a million Jews to Auschwitz.  Orban waged an openly anti-Semitic election campaign in 2017 using George Soros, the Jewish billionaire as his scapegoat. Yet there is no European leader who is closer to Netanyahu and more supportive of the genocide in Gaza than Orban.

Budapest Deak Square Sculpture to the memory of Pastor Sztehlo Gábor (1909-1974) of the Lutheran Church who saved around 2000 Jewish children and adults during the rule of the fascist Arrow Cross Party

Throughout the two years of genocide the most ardent supporters of Zionism and the genocide have been the Islamaphobic right. People like Tommy Robinson and Geert Wilders. They may not like Jews but they love Israel. Donald Trump personifies this with his talk of American Jews not being loyal enough to Israel which is ‘their country’.

What is interesting is what my interviewer, Robert Inlakesh, brought up, about the dilemma expressed by Sarah Hurwitz, the former Obama speechwriter, member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Council and dedicated Zionist activist.

Former Obama speechwriter faces backlash for pro-Israel comments | MEE Explains

Hurwitz’s speech on November 16, 2025, at the General Assembly of the Jewish Federations of North America in Washington set off a firestorm because she said out aloud what has been troubling Zionists privately, namely the contrast between holocaust education that teaches that the extermination of Europe’s Jews is wrong and the Holocaust in Gaza which Zionists believe is right.

Of course this wouldn’t be a problem if holocaust education was about how all racism, ethnic cleansing and genocide is wrong. The problem is that Holocaust education tries to combine two messages – exterminating people is bad but supporting Israel is good.  Except that Israel is also exterminating Palestinians, hence the dilemma.

Israel is seen as compensation for the holocaust. How to square this with the holocaust in Gaza perpetrated by that very same state? This is the ‘problem’ that Hurwitz tackled, admitting that her hasbara attempts to bridge the gap are making her seem ‘obscene’ to Jewish kids.

Budapest Deak Square Sculpture to the memory of Pastor Sztehlo Gábor (1909-1974) of the Lutheran Church who saved around 2000 Jewish children and adults during the rule of the fascist Arrow Cross Party

In her short rant she accepted that coming to young people with her data, facts and arguments when all they could see on their phones was carnage made her look obscene. Her solution was to confiscate the phones of young people!

This is exemplified by the fact that not one Holocaust Remembrance institution has condemned the Holocaust in Gaza. Indeed the Los Angeles Holocaust Museum actually apologised for suggesting that ‘Never Again’ applied to everyone, with the implication that Palestinians might be included.

The LA Holocaust Museum’s anodyne statement merely said “Never Again’ Can't Only Mean Never Again For Jews.”  This produced an avalanche of protest from racist Zionists who believed that ‘Never Again’ only meant Jews.

The Los Angeles holocaust museum’s pathetic apology read:

“We recently posted an item on social media that was part of a pre-planned campaign intended to promote inclusivity and community that was easily open to misinterpretation by some to be a political statement reflecting the ongoing situation in the Middle East. That was not our intent,”

Hurwitz achieved her moment of fame when she articulated the problems that Zionists like herself face.  How to portray Israelis in a good light when the lesson that most young people draw from holocaust education is equating strong Nazis persecuting emaciated Jews with strong Israelis persecuting skinny Palestinians.

Sarah Hurwitz Explaining Why She Sounds Obscene

"So you have TikTok just smashing our young people's brains all day long with video of carnage in Gaza. And this is why so many of us can't have a sane conversation with younger Jews because anything that we try to say to them, they are hearing it through this wall of carnage. So I want to give data and information and facts and arguments and they are just seeing in their minds carnage and I sound obscene... Holocaust education is absolutely essential. But I think it may be confusing some of our young people about antisemitism, because they learn about big, strong Nazis hurting weak, emaciated Jews, and they think, 'Oh, antisemitism is like anti-black racism, right? Powerful white people against powerless black people.' So when on TikTok, all day long, they see powerful Israelis hurting weak, skinny Palestinians, it's not surprising that they think, 'Oh, I know the lesson of the Holocaust is you fight Israel. You fight the big, powerful people hurting the weak people."

The family of Stephen Kapos, a holocaust survivor active in Palestine Solidarity politics, as they entered the Columbus Street camp

My book deals in some detail with the Zionist attitude to the holocaust. Zionism holds that the holocaust is unique.  Nothing like it has ever happened before nor will it happen again. The Holocaust is sui generis.  It cannot be compared. And if the holocaust is unique then one cannot draw any lessons from it, certainly no anti-racist lessons.  The only conclusion that one is permitted to draw is the one conclusion that is demonstrably false, namely that Israel was given to the Jews as compensation for 6 million dead.

The Nazi holocaust only happened to one people, the Jews, in Zionist eyes. The Roma, Russians, gays etc. suffered genocide maybe but certainly not holocaust. That is reserved for the Jews. Holocaust education is therefore formulated with those lessons in mind. Holocaust education is designed with the legitimation of Israel in mind. Holocaust memorial institutions have this as their main goal. Yad Vashem serves as the focus of this Holocaust State Worship.

In the Gaza Holocaust Yad Vashem has refused the entreaties of holocaust and genocide scholars to condemn the genocide in Gaza. Yad Vashem itself is presided over by a fascist settler, Dani Dayan, who Brazil refused to accept as Ambassador because of his racism and right-wing views.

In April 1976 John Vorster, South Africa's PM, Who was Interned as a Nazi Supporter, Visited Israel

Yad Vashem has entertained a bevy of neo-Nazis and anti-Semites beginning with the visit of Prime Minister of Apartheid South Africa, John Vorster in April 1976. Vorster was interned during the war because of his Nazi sympathies. Other visitors include Hungary’s far-right Prime Minister Orban, the Hitler loving Presidents of the Philippines and Brazil, Rodrigo Duterte and Jair Bolsanaro and assorted far rightists.

Zionism and Anti-Semitism go together like a hand and a glove. They make perfect partners.

When ex-Israeli Minister Feiglin Said That Just As Hitler Wanted to Expel all Jews the Zionists Want to Expel All Palestinians He Was Telling the Truth

When Zionism During the Holocaust was Published Even Many Anti-Zionists Couldn’t Accept that Israel was a Reflection of the Nazi State - Today all that has changed

John Mearsheimer and the Nazification of Israel

In the autumn of 2022 I brought out the first book on Zionist-Nazi collaboration since Lenni Brenner 40 years ago. I wasn’t to know that a year later Israel was to embark on a genocide that bore remarkable similarity to the Nazi holocaust.

'ERASE All Palestinians' - Popular Israeli Podcasters Claim Most Share Their Genocidal Fantasy

At first people like Owen Jones recoiled against any suggestion that the Zionists had collaborated with the Nazis. In a reply to Asa Winstanley Jones wrote an article ‘No, Jews did not collaborate in their own genocide’ Jones soon found out that the comparisons between the Zionists and the Nazis were true.

The holocaust in Gaza began with the declaration of Defence Minister Yoav Gallant that the Palestinians were ‘human animals’ the very phrase that Himmler had used on 4 October 1943 at Posen about the untermenschen, the lower races.

Comparisons with the Nazi outlook and actions abounded. Prime Minister Netanyahu declared on October 28 that

You must remember what Amalek has done to you, says our Holy Bible. And we do remember.

Video. Did Israeli children really sing about annihilating everyone in Gaza?

Israel’s public broadcaster, Kan, broadcast a video of Israeli school children singing ‘The Friendship Song’ which declared that the Palestinians of Gaza should be ‘annihilated’.

Israel’s Labor Zionist President, Isaac Hertzog, stated that

The entire [Palestinian] nation out there that is responsible. It is not true this rhetoric about civilians not aware, not involved.

with the clear implication that they should be wiped out.

Genocidal statements by Government Ministers abounded. South Africa in its application to the International Court of Justice submitted a 500 page document containing multiple genocidal statements by Israeli leaders.

For example Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said that

No one in the world will allow us to starve 2 million people, even though it might be justified and moral in order to free the hostages.

In fact Israel had consistently implemented a policy of restricting food aid to the minimum and from March 2025 imposed a total blockade on food and water imports. He went on to say that “Gaza will be entirely destroyed”.

The reality of the Gaza holocaust made Zionism During the Holocaust highly relevant. Calls for the extermination of every last single Palestinian abounded. Israel’s oldest podcast by Two Nice Jewish Boys fantasised about pressing a button and getting rid of every Palestinian in Gaza and the West Bank. Elad Barashi, a famous Israeli television producer even called for the introduction of gas chambers.

Shimon Elkabetz, the chairman of the Israel Film Council explained on Channel i24 News that "With this enemy, it's just like using a lice comb. Just kill them. Just exterminate them."   One can only assume that Elkabetz hadn’t read Hitler’s Mein Kampf where he said of German-Jewish emigrants to America that they were a 'lice-ridden migration.' [p.320, tr. Ralph Manheim]

We have the irony of Israel on the one hand solemnly remembering the extermination of Europe’s Jews during the Holocaust. At the same time they are carrying out the extermination of the Palestinians. This isn’t simply cognitive dissonance. It is old fashioned settler colonialism with the holocaust as its protective shield. Is it any wonder that Tommy Robinson is so enamoured with Israel?

Zionism had stripped the holocaust of any contemporary or universal meaning. This only became apparent to many people after October 7 but it had always been apparent. Israel helped the Guatemalan Junta in the 1980’s to perpetrate a genocide of the Mayan Indians. Israel was the closest ally of the Apartheid state in South Africa. At the same time Israel also instituted a regime of Jewish Supremacy in Israel itself. Beginning with ethnic cleansing, as had Hitler, it ended up with genocide.

One thing that Zionism During the Holocaust had done which Brenner did not do was to focus on the ideological legitimisers of Israeli racism and ethnic cleansing, the holocaust industry.

I showed that these holocaust memorial organisations, because they had posited that the Nazi holocaust of Jews was unique, had depoliticised and ethnicised it. Never Again only meant Jews no one else.

Karen Pollock of Britain’s Holocaust Education Trust condemned the ‘shameful’ comparisons between the holocaust in Gaza and the Nazi genocide. In Pollock’s eyes, drawing universal conclusions from the holocaust was ‘shameful’.

When the Los Angeles Holocaust Museum posted a message on Instagram, the first slide of which featured a drawing of a hexagon formed by six linked arms — with the words ‘Never Again’ Can’t Only Mean Never Again For Jews.’ there was furious response from Zionists. The message was interpreted as referring to the genocide in Gaza. One commentator wrote that

This post is beyond disgraceful. Whoever created, approved, and posted this should be ashamed of themselves. Our ancestors are rolling in their graves.

Two days later, the museum deleted the post and published an apology. Unlike the first Instagram post, the museum blocked people from commenting.

The Los Angeles Holocaust Museum wasn’t alone. Every single holocaust museum and institution has refused to recognise, still less condemn, Israel’s genocide or compare what Israel was doing to the actions of the Nazis.

When 50 holocaust researchers asked Yad Vashem, Israel’s holocaust propaganda museum, to condemn the genocidal statements made by Israeli politicians, military and other public figures, its Chair Dani Dayan refused.

Instead Dayan asserted that the Israeli army was not conducting a genocide but was acting ‘within the constraints Hamas imposes on us to comply with the proper moral standards and the laws of war.’

Dayan himself was Secretary-General of the fascist anti-Arab Tehiya party, and a candidate to the Knesset on its list in the Israeli legislative elections in 1988 and 1992.

Dayan was also on the Executive of the settler Yesha Council, which is the local government for West Bank settlers. Unsurprisingly in 2015 Brazil rejected him as Israel’s nomination as its Ambassador because of his fascist credentials. Clearly Dani Dayan is well suited, from the Zionist standpoint, to run Yad Vashem!

One can only assume that support for the destruction of Gaza’s hospitals, universities and extermination of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are what passes for high moral standards at Yad Vashem.

The first edition of Zionism During the Holocaust was self published. It sold over 5,000 copies. I have now been offered and signed a contract with Verso Books to publish a second edition which will come out in 2027. It will include a new chapter on the Holocaust in Gaza. The book is likely to be very different from the first edition.

In the meantime I have terminated my contract with New Generation Publishers which means that no further copies of the book will be printed.

I have a few copies that I purchased before signing the new contract and if anyone wants to purchase a copy they should contact me at tonygreenstein104@gmail.com. The price will be £12.50 per copy for those in Britain but postage will be about £15 extra for those in Europe and £ 28 extra for those in the United States and Canada.
