Local Election Results Confirm the Failure of Starmer’s New Labour Project

As Starmer faces a Police Investigation one thing is clear - Labour will never again form a majority government

A Big Welcome to Sinn Fein's Historic Victory - Full Steam Ahead to a United Ireland

Blair’s poisoned chalice to Starmer

Despite all the bluster by Starmer’s sycophants that everything is fine, it is clear that Labour is headed for the buffers.

Despite marginal advances in the Wales, the South and Scotland, Labour’s performance is little better today than 4 years ago under Jeremy Corbyn. If you remember back then Corbyn was under fierce attack because of the fake anti-Semitism campaign.

Indeed the jewel in Labour’s triumph in the South, the capture of Worthing Council was due to a campaigning left-wing Labour Party, including Palestinian supporters on the Council, having mounted a campaign to dislodge an entrenched Tory Party, one of whose members, Tim Wills, was forced to resign after revelations that he was a supporter of the far-Right Patriotic Alternative.

In Hastings Labour lost control thanks to the efforts of Starmer. Councillor Leah Levane, co-chair of Jewish Voice for Labour, was expelled during the 2019 Labour Party conference. The late Mike Howard, a Jewish former councillor, was also disgracefully suspended for ‘anti-Semitism’.

London where 3 Councils – Barnet, Westminster and Wandsworth – were gained by Labour - is the exception. Why?  Because Labour politics were radicalised under the Greater London Council under Ken Livingstone becoming a major centre of opposition to Thatcher in the 1980s and when Livingstone twice won the mayoralty after Tony Blair fixed the Labour nomination in favour of the late Frank Dobson.

But perhaps the most brilliant result of all was in the elections for the Mayor of Tower Hamlets where Aspire candidate Lutfur Rahman beat the incumbent Blairite, the anti-Palestinian racist John Biggs. Lutfur was removed in what I called in a letter to the Guardian in April 2015 a ‘ ‘Democratic’ Coup by an Unelected Judge’.

Guardian 10.6.15.

Starmer may take comfort by the fact that Labour overtook the Tories in Scotland but anyone with any memory will remember how, under Thatcher, Labour had over 50 seats in Scotland. Today they have just one. They will gained less seats than the SNP.

In England Labour gained just 52 seats (at the time of writing) compared to 113 for the Green Party and 191 for the Lib Dems! In the North Labour fell back even further with the first results in  Sunderland showing a swing against Labour.

However much Labour’s stuffed dummy of a leader may talk these results up they clearly point to another victory of the Tories at the next general election.

All that the Tories need to do, and it is odds on that they will do it, is to plunge a dagger in Johnson’s back. With a new leader and a weak Opposition, whoever is the leader, the Tories will regain their lead.

It is not just that Starmer has all the charisma of a rubber duck, the personality of his waxworks model at Mme Tussauds and the presence of a shadow. The real problem is that he has nothing to say. For all the accusations that Johnson is a liar, which is of course, true, it is Starmer who is the real liar.

I defy anyone to explain how the 10 Pledges that Starmer used to get elected as Labour leader are compatible with the positions he has taken since. Take Pledge 4

No more illegal wars. Introduce a Prevention of Military Intervention Act and put human rights at the heart of foreign policy. Review all UK arms sales and make us a force for international peace and justice.’

Is this the same man who is threatening to deselect any Labour MP who supports Stop the War Coalition and who doesn’t support NATO?

Whereas Blair came to power on a series of pledges such as a minimum wage and cutting hospital waiting lists, Starmer has nothing to offer except the Union Jack.  He is a blank page whose only promise, to rid Labour of ‘anti-Semitism’ has resulted in Jewish Labour Party members being five times more likely to be expelled than non-Jews!  You couldn’t make it up.

Starmer has demonstrated over Ukraine that he is a narrow minded, pound shop patriot, a cheap John Bull who, everytime he opens his mouth, reminds me of Samuel Johnson’s observation that ‘patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.’. A cheap nationalist who prefers flag waving to renationalisation of rail and the utilities. His support of the State of Israel which the entire human rights community have accepted, along with the UN’s rappoteur, as an apartheid state marks him out as a racist.

Corbyn appeased his enemies and threw his friends overboard

Unfortunately Corbyn did not stand up to the Right and even worse, John McDonnell did his best with Owen Jones to appease them, with results we all know.

I hate to boast that I was right (!) but I was.  On 4 February when all types of Momentum idiots like Paul Mason and Laura Parker were backing Starmer as a ‘unity’ candidate I wrote Keir Starmer is the candidate that the Deep State & the British Establishment want you to vote for.

Even more eloquently Oliver Eagleton makes the same point in his excellent article Keir Starmer Never Had Any Plans to Make Peace With the Left. To quote Oliver:

Given these aspects of Starmer’s record, his most recent McCarthyite outbursts should come as no surprise. Servility to NATO and hostility to left-wing activists are inscribed in his political DNA. So far, the Labour left’s approach to Starmer continues to entertain the notion that he is susceptible to progressive pressure.

Writing about the Socialist Campaign Group Oliver says all that needs to be said:

Its climbdowns will not be rewarded with an iota of policy influence. At best, it will merely avoid expulsion from the party. But if its membership is premised on embracing American power and disowning groups like Stop the War, then how can it contribute to a viable Left strategy? Is the continued presence of socialists a virtue in itself, even if it means forsaking socialism?

Far from being a human rights lawyer Starmer, in his time as Director of Public Prosecutions was an anti-human rights lawyer. Eagleton wrote:

He meted out the same treatment to Gary McKinnon, the autistic IT expert whose extradition — which could have seen him spend the rest of his life in a US jail for hacking into military databases — was blocked by Theresa May on humanitarian grounds. The same year, Starmer paved the way for two Britons, Syed Talha Ahsan and Babar Ahmad, to be dispatched to an American supermax prison, where they were placed in indefinite solitary confinement for their tangential links to an obscure Islamist website.

Perhaps most notably, Starmer’s CPS intervened in the case of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, pressuring Swedish state prosecutors not to drop their charges against the journalist, in a move that streamlined plans to send him onward to the United States. While Crown lawyers hounded Assange for shedding light on US war crimes, Starmer simultaneously refused to prosecute intelligence officials who were accused of complicity in torture — despite the existence of eyewitnesses and documentary evidence.

This is taken from Oliver Eagleton’s The Starmer Project - A Journey to the Right.

Making predictions electorally is always a fraught task but I would venture that if Starmer is not removed and Labour reverses track, which is highly unlikely, Labour will do well  to return to Ed Miliband’s result in 2015 of 232 seats, somewhat less than Corbyn’s 262 seats in 2017.

The Lib Dems gained nearly 4 times as many seats in the elections (191). Even the Green Party gained more seats (60). There is no obvious replacement for Starmer. The colourless Rachel Reeves will go down like cold porridge. In any event it is not a question of personality but what Labour’s program for change will be and under Starmer any change will be for the worse.

There is nothing radical about Starmer.  He is as unimaginative as he looks. He has no answer to the economic crisis apart from repression, which is why he has supported Johnson's repressive agenda – the Spycops and Police Bill (Labour nominally opposed the latter but with no enthusiasm after having originally backed it). Starmer’s record on human rights is, as Eagleton says, abysmal and he is certainly not going to increase taxes on the rich, renationalise anything or disturb any of the privileges of the rich.

The next election is therefore headed for a hung Parliament and all the associated political paralysis.  It offers opportunities to the same far-Right that has prevailed in much of Europe.  It is for that, if no other reason, that the Left has to get its act together.

For socialists to stay in the Labour Party is the equivalent of trying to run up an escalator going down. It is a futile and hopeless task.

The one glimmer of hope is that Starmer has been caught on the hook that he himself fashioned. If the investigation into Beergate leads to Starmer being issued with a fixed notice penalty he may well be forced to resign in which case we will be faced with a competition between a set of colourless nonentities.

Harold Wilson - won 4 General Elections

The only exception I would make to this scenario is if someone like Barry Gardiner is elected. He is one of the few intelligent and articulate Labour MPs. He reminds me of Harold Wilson and he is intelligent, which is why Starmer sacked him. Contrary to widespread belief Starmer is anything but intelligent.  Being a lawyer means being able to master gobblydook and ritual. It doesn't always mean intelligence.

In Starmer's case what he lacks in intelligence he makes up for in ruthlessness. To stay in Corbyn's shadow cabinet without protest suggests someone who is fundamentally dishonest. He is surrounded by cold, calculating technocrats like David Lammy and Rachel Reeves, neither of whom would recognise a principle if it bit them on their buttocks!

Gardiner would probably tack left and seek to build an alliance with the soft left bringing back Corbyn.  However most Labour MPs are too stupid and right-wing to do as the Parliamentary Labour Party did in 1962. His main drawback is that he is a patron of Labour  Friends of Apartheid Israel.

NOT THE FORDE INQUIRY! Why Starmer Sought to Hide and Cover Up Racist and Sexist Abuse & Corruption Amongst Labour's Senior Staff

Despite Packing the Forde Inquiry With his  Sycophants Starmer Decided to Suppress it

Register here for The Not The Forde Inquiry

The Forde Inquiry was set up at in April 2020 as a result of Labour’s Leaked Report which demonstrated conclusively that senior Labour staff had consciously set out to sabotage the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn.  The Report was aiming to issue its report early in 2021.

The Leaked Report, which was clearly commissioned by former General Secretary Jennie Formby (perhaps her only real service to the left during her tenure) demonstrated that senior Labour officials, led by General Secretary Iain McNicol and his unattractive enforcer John Stolliday, ran an unofficial  general election campaign in support of right-wing MPs at a secret HQ during the 2017 General Election campaign.

The Report, in perhaps its only humorous moment, illustrated the grief and tears of these sordid and wretched hacks as Corbyn increased his majority. They were openly disappointed, some in tears, when Corbyn unexpectedly gained not lost seats. McNicol warned his fellow bigots that they were in for an uncomfortable few months.

Unfortunately it took Corbyn another 8 months to force McNicol's resignation despite the fact that, in anticipation of a coup, McNicol had cancelled the passes of Corbyn's office on the night of the General Election. It was a sad commentary on Corbyn's tenure as leader that he refused to confront the Right even as he was betraying his own comrades like Chris Williamson.

Keir Starmer - Labour's Leader In Need of a Personality Transplant

The Leaked Report  included outrageous examples of racist abuse, homophobia, anti-Semitism (ironically) sexism and electoral sabotage by party officials.  In short utter corruption.

Starmer however made his displeasure clear. Not at the behaviour of McNicol, Stolliday, Emily Oldknow and all the other crooks and bigots who Labour employed at great cost.  His anger was directed at those who had compiled and leaked the Report.

The Forde Inquiry was filled with Starmer loyalists and right-wing toe rags.  Yet despite this Starmer has desperately attempted to kick the Inquiry into the long grass. The latest pretext for delay is that it might conflict with the Information Commissioner’s inquiries.

Over a year later the Forde Inquiry still hasn’t reported. Many people believe Forde’s findings are being suppressed because the party’s leadership wants to bury the truth. But we’re not going to let that happen.

That’s why we’re holding the “Not The Forde Inquiry”, to give people the chance to say in public what they would have told the inquiry if they’d had the chance.

Starmer is Labour’s most dishonest leader ever. A born liar who campaigned as a unity candidate and the moment he was elected began undoing Corbyn’s legacy. First Rebecca Long Bailey was sacked as Shadow Education Secretary for retweeting Maxine Peake’s references to Israeli Police training their US counterparts in how to choke, strangle and otherwise incapacitate Black people.  This was, apparently, an ‘anti-Semitic conspiracy theory’.

Whilst standing for leader Starmer hid the fact that his campaign was financed by a plethora of right-wing businessmen and hedge fund managers such as Martin Taylor, (£95,000) Clive Hollick (£50,000) and Trevor Chinn (£50,000), a major funder of Labour Friends of Israel and an Executive Member of BICOM, the main pro-Israel propaganda organisation in Britain.  Zionist supporters constituted a large chunk of Starmer's campaign funding but Starmer refused to divulge the source of his donations until the election campaign was over. As Bob Pitt noted:

those party members who voted for Keir on the basis of his assurances that he would continue Labour’s radical political trajectory might ask themselves whether they were well and truly suckered.

Because the Forde Inquiry looks as if it will never report, Labour in Exile Network has organised an alternative Forde Inquiry, namely Not the Forde Inquiry which will take submissions from people who have been at the centre of the witchhunt.

Rebecca Massey (under the flag) and Anne Mitchell (second from right) who was also expelled from Hove Labour Party

They include:

Jackie Walker – the Black-Jewish former Vice Chair of Momentum who was stabbed in the back by Jon Lansman at the behest of the Jewish LabourMovement whose 'sister party', the Israeli Labour Party, has just gone into a coalition government in Israel with the far-Right.

Chris Williamson        the former Labour MP who was attacked as an ‘anti-Semite’ by the JLM. Chris was stabbed in the back by Jennie Formby and betrayed by Jeremy Corbyn who failed to stand up for him.

Graham Bash    the Editor of Labour Briefing, an Executive Committee member of Jewish Voices for Labour who has also been suspended.

Leah Levane     a Jewish councillor for Hastings, Leah is co-Chair of Jewish Voices for Labour. Remarkably she doesn’t appear to have been suspended (yet!).

Tina Werkmann          Secretary of Labour Against the Witchhunt and active in Labour Left Alliance has been expelled.

Rebecca Massey         was expelled on the explicit instructions of the Board of Deputies – this fact was uncovered when a document was obtained through a subject access request.

Contributions also encouraged from attendees at this event

If you have information relevant to the inquiry please email info@labour-in-exile.org. Whistleblowers are particularly welcome!

The inquiry will also hear a special message from film director Ken Loach

Over 450 people have already registered for Saturday's 'Not the Forde Enquiry' meeting at 7pm, which is being run in conjunction with the Labour Left Alliance and Labour Against the Witchhunt. The Morning Star covered the event and above you can see a video interview with LIEN's Norman Thomas that was shown on RT.

Why Freedom of Speech is too important for the pro-Israel lobby and the Zionist movement to be allowed to destroy it

Campaign for Free Speech Rally – Saturday December 12th

Ronnie Kassrills - former leader of the ANC military wing Umkonte we Sizwe and ANC Minister

Solidarity message from Tariq Ali:

Angela Rayner tells #JLM2020: “If I have to suspend thousands and thousands of members, we will do that. Because we cannot and we will not accept an injury to one, because an injury to one is an injury to all.”

The response to this should be: “If we have to be suspended because we support the rights of the Palestinian people to live, plough their lands, tend their olive trees, defend their children and themselves and continue the struggle for equal rights in an apartheid state and for self-determination outside it, then we will.”

Chris William, the former Labour MP driven out of the Labour Party

Last Saturday there was a Free Speech Rally with a range of speakers. They included

  • Kerry Ann Mendoza, editor of The Canary;
  • Professor Moshe Machover, the founder of Matzpen who has recently been suspended,
  • Tony Greenstein an expelled member,
  • Chris Williamson who was unlawfully suspended as an MP,
  • Steve Zeltser, a US activist,
  • Kevin Bean, an expelled member of the Labour Party and Labour Against the Witchhunt,
  • Jonathan Coulter from Lib Dems for Free Speech,
  • Craig Murray, who is currently being hounded by the Scottish legal system and a campaigner for Julian Assange,
  • Ronnie Barkan, an Israeli activist living in Berlin;
  • Leah Levane from Jewish Voice for Labour,
  • Rowan Gaudet (Independent Jewish Voices Canada)
  • Graham Bash, Editor of Labour Briefing
  • Sammi Ramadani, an Iraqi anti-war activist and academic living in Britain
  • Ronnie Kassrills, former Minister in the ANC Government from 2004-2008 and ANC Executive member.
  • Craig Murray - former UK Ambassador to Uzbekistan before being dismissed by New Labour for speaking out about torture

Unfortunately Ilan Pappe was ill and Professor David Miller had child care commitments.

Jackie Walker and Tina Werkmann chaired the two sessions which you can also see separately.

Everyone is agreed it was an excellent and moving conference and if you haven’t already watched it (over 12,000 on Facebook have) then please do. I found Ronnie Kassrills speech particularly interesting given his background in the overthrow of the world’s previous Apartheid government.

Sign the Petition to Labour’s National Executive Committee
Stop the Expulsion of Tony Greenstein, Jackie Walker & Marc Wadsworth
‘most of the people who have been suspended from the Labour Party seem to be Jewish’ Alexei Sayle Sky TV interview

Please sign the petition below.  The Right, led by Iain McNicol, Labour’s detested General Secretary, the Compliance Unit and Sam Matthews aided by Anne Black Chair of the Disputes Committee, are determined to restart the False Anti-Semitism Witch-hunt.
Even the Daily Express, takes time out from attacking asylum seekers and migrants in order to oppose 'anti-Semitism'
Why is it false and faked?  Because you only have to look at who supports it.
If the Labour Party were overrun by anti-Semitism does anyone seriously think that the Daily Mail, the Sun and the Tory tabloids would be concerned?  Why is it that the most racist newspapers in Britain are ‘concerned’ about anti-Semitism in the Labour Party?  How is it that the Daily Mail and the Express, which supported Hitler in the 1930’s, which campaigned against the admission of Jewish refugees from Nazism are now so concerned about ‘anti-Semitism’?  Why is it that those papers that vilify asylum seekers and refugees, which employ columnists like Katie Hopkins and Richard Littlejohn, are concerned about anti-Semitism?

The anti-Semitism witch-hunt has nothing to do with anti-Semitism.
Of course there may be a few individuals with anti-Semitic ideas in the Labour Party. Most of them come from a reaction to Zionism’s claim that Jews, all Jews, support what Israel does.  Is it surprising that some people take them at their word?  It would be surprising if, in a party of 600,000 members there was no one with anti-Semitic ideas.
Iain McNicol - Labour's Detested General Secretary - in league with Britain's secret state
a 'semi house trained polecat' a good description of McNicol
Solicitor's letter to Crooked McNicol after he tried to keep Corbyn off the ballot paper in 2016
However when we do come across racist ideas the way of tackling them is by means of education and discussion not through expulsions and disciplinary actions.  It should only be in the rarest of cases that people should be expelled for racism.
Despite this threat of violence by the Jewish Labour Movement's thuggish Director, Ellas Rose, Iain McNicol refused to take any action against her
If we are going to expel anyone for racism it is Jeremy Newmark, Ella Rose and those who support the world’s only Apartheid state, Israel.  It is the Jewish Labour Movement which consciously supports the racist Israeli Labour Party.  [see Meet Avi Gabbay, Israeli Labour's Racist New Leader]

Labour’s conference at Brighton was a great disappointment to the Right.  Despite 2 years of incessant headlines about ‘anti-Semitism’ delegates were not persuaded that anti-Semitism was a problem in the Labour Party.

When Corbyn mentioned Palestine delegates were enthusiastic. When Jewish anti-Zionists Naomi Wimborne-Iddrissi and Leah Levane called out this fake anti-Semitism campaign, delegates responded with standing ovations.  The JLM responded with calls for Naomi’s expulsion.
Warren Morgan has received no support in Brighton for his attack on Labour as anti-semitic
That enlightened paper The Scum used Warren Morgan's attack on 'anti-Semitism' to attack Corbyn
When Warren Morgan, Progress leader of Brighton and Hove Council threatened that Labour wouldn’t be welcomed back in Brighton because of ‘anti-Semitism’ he was condemned by members of Brighton and Hove Labour Parties.  Not one Ward, not even his own in East Brighton supported him.
Theresa May uses Warren Morgan's attack on Labour's 'anti-semitism' to attack Corbyn
When Moshe Machover’s expulsion was withdrawn, the Jewish Chronicle was immediately informed that the proposed expulsion of Tony Greenstein, Jackie Walker and Marc Wadsworth would proceed.
It is a mystery why Kangaroo courts like the NCC should be named after his lovable creature
On November 2nd I was informed by email that December 11th had been fixed for my expulsion hearing. At the time I was in hospital. It was not until November 5th, 5 weeks before the proposed hearing, that I signed for the Bundle that constitutes the ‘evidence’ against me. Despite supplying confirmation that I had only just been discharged from hospital, the National Constitutional Committee refused to change the date of my hearing.
The Garston 3 are pensioners with years of service to the Labour Party who have been 'auto excluded' by the despicable bureaucrat Sam Matthews
I was suspended on March 18th 2016, 20 months ago.  My Investigation Hearing was on May 30th 2016, over 17 months ago and yet I was given 5 weeks to prepare a response.  Why?  Because the Right is determined to get the expulsions over as quickly as possible.  They want to move quickly before we can organise.
The next meeting of Labour Against the Witch hunt is on December 2nd
It is our duty to stop them.  The witch hunt isn’t about Jackie, Marc or me – it is about the future direction of the Labour Party.  Is the Right in the Labour Party going to be allowed to pick off socialists in the interests of US Foreign Policy, which is what support for Israel is about? Israel receives more military aid per year ($4 billion) than every other country put together. Support for the alliance with the USA means supporting the world’s only Apartheid State.

We need to stop the witch hunters in their track.  Please sign this petition and share as widely as possible.
Tony Greenstein
Kafka would have had a field day with Labour's witch hunt

Stop the witch-hunt of socialists in the Labour Party - let's turn our fire on the Right

It was for speaking at a meeting of the Communist Party of Great Britain that Moshe Machover was 'auto-excluded' - strangely this is not one of the charges against me!
On 3rd October 2017, Professor Moshe Machover, an Israeli anti-Zionist was ‘auto-excluded’ from the Labour Party. Moshe’s offence was to write an ‘apparently anti-Semitic’ article quoting Reinhardt Heydrich in praise of the Zionist movement.  The article itself was true.

Moshe’s principal crime had been to write for Weekly Worker, paper of the Communist Party of Great Britain and speak at their conference. According to Sam Matthews of Labour’s Disputes Committee this indicated support for another organisation.  If Moshe had, like many Labour MPs, written for the Daily Mail or the Sun there would not have been a problem.

Because of the fierce reaction to Moshe’s expulsion, with dozens of Labour Party branches and CLPs passing motions condemning this exercise in McCarthyism, Machover’s expulsion was rescinded. According to Matthew’s ‘logic’ Jeremy Corbyn, a columnist for the Morning Star for 10 years, should also have been expelled! After Labour’s successful conference and its successes in the General Election, members were not prepared to tolerate a renewed witch hunt by Labour’s General Secretary Iain McNicol or the Compliance Unit.
David Watson, Walthamstowe's fundraiser has been suspended for 18 months as a result of the Stella Creasey's family efforts - seen here with Jeremy Corbyn
Members have made it very clear that they are sick and tired of supporters of the Palestinians and opponents of Israeli Apartheid being labelled as anti-Semitic.

McNicol’s witch hunters haven’t given up though. On October 31st the Jewish Chronicle  as a result of a leak from Labour HQ, wrote that Tony Greenstein, Jackie Walker and Marc Wadsworth were going to be facing expulsion imminently.

On November 2nd Tony Greenstein, a Jewish anti-Zionist and an active anti-fascist, author of the Fight Against Fascism in Brighton (reviewed here) was informed that he would be going to the National Constitutional Committee within 5 weeks.

It is over 20 months since Tony was suspended and 17 months since his Investigation Meeting yet the NCC have refused to allow him more time to respond to a 190 page dossier despite having been in hospital when he was notified of the hearing.

Tony has been targeted by the Jewish Labour Movement, ‘sister party’ of the Israeli Labour Party. One charge is posting on his blog ‘offensive and derisory’ comments accusing Louise Ellman MP of being a “supporter of Israeli child abuse”.

On January 16 2016 there was a debate in the House of Commons on Israel’s treatment of Palestinian children. The debate revolved around a UNICEF Report which recorded that Palestinian children experienced treatment akin to torture as well as sexual abuse. During the debate Ms Ellman intervened three times to justify the Israeli Military’s behaviour in gaoling children as young as 9, using physical coercion and depriving them of access to their parents or a lawyer something no Israeli Jewish child would face.  The military courts trying them have a 99.7% conviction rate.

Tony Greenstein is accused of ‘anti-Semitism’ but his charges relate to his criticism of Israel not Jews. According to Professor Brian Klug of Oxford University ‘antisemitism is a form of hostility to Jews as Jews, where Jews are perceived as something other than what they are.’  Anti-Semitism has nothing to do with criticism of Zionism or Israel.

We demand that the principles of natural justice and due process, as recommended by the Chakrabarti Report, are adhered to and that the proposed expulsions of Tony Greenstein, Jackie Walker and Marc Wadsworth are withdrawn.

As Alexei Sayle noted

‘most of the people who have been suspended from the Labour Party seem to be Jewish’ Sky TV interview
