Spencer was the organiser of last weekend’s demonstration at Charlottesville in which a variety of white supremacists and neo-Nazis attacked the unarmed crowd of anti-racists, anti-fascists and members of Black Lives Matter.  The attack, which killed one woman and injured several others, was the largest White Supremacist and neo-Nazi demonstration in living memory in the United States.

It is reported that 80% of the racists were armed and they were allowed by Police to wander unhindered around Charlottesville.

The election of Trump has seen a coming together of a wide variety of White Supremacists, neo-Nazis and fascists under the banner of the Alt-Right.  They have in the White House three prominent advisors to Trump. There is Steve Bannon, Trump’s Strategic Advisor and former CEO of Breitbart News, an openly racist and White Supremacist magazine. Steven Miller, who has helped devise Trump’s immigration policy and who was mentored by Spencer. Some of idea of his views can be gleaned from this profile in The Telegraph:

He took to ringing his local radio stations to rail against multiculturalism and the usage of Spanish-language announcements, and wrote for his high school newspaper a column entitled “A Time to Kill”, urging violent response to radical Islamists.

The third member of the unholy trinity is far-Right Hungarian Sebastian Gorka who helped form the New Democratic Coalition in Hungary with ex-members of Jobbik, an openly fascist and anti-Semitic party.  Gorka also endorsed the Hungarian Guard, an anti-Semitic militia of Jobbik.  Gorka appeared at an inauguration ball for Trump wearing the Vitézi Rend, a medal of a knightly order of merit founded in 1920 by Admiral Miklos Horthy, Hungary’s anti-Semitic ruler and Hitler’s ally during World War II. Horthy presided over the deportation of nearly ½ million Jews to Auschwitz.  Gorka was up to his ears in fascist politics in Hungary, seeing Jobbik as too moderate. It is no surprise then that Spencer finds no difficulty in marrying his racist and anti-Semitic views with ardent support for Zionism and Israel.  In fact he sees Israel as a kind of model  for White Supremacism.  When Rabbi Matt Rosenberg of Texas A&M Hillel challenged Spencer at a meeting to be inclusive to others, Spencer threw the challenge back at the Rabbi.  ‘Would you want Israel to be radically inclusive’ knowing full well that Rabbi Rosenberg was like many Zionist ‘liberals’ – happy to support multi-racialism in the USA but opposed to intermarriage and equal rights for non-Jews in Israel.

Spencer’s declaration will no doubt be embarrassing to those like Rabbi Rosenberg who want ‘radical inclusion’ and tolerance in the United States, because that benefits American Jews but who would be aghast if the same principles were to apply to Israel.   The fact is that what Richard Spencer says is all too true – White Supremacists are only asking for what Zionists take for granted in Israel.  They are indeed White Zionists.

Spencer tells Israel's Channel 2 News: 'Jews are vastly over-represented in what you could call 'the establishment'

Richard Spencer, a white nationalist and de facto leader of the so-called “alt-right,” described himself to a reporter on Israel’s Channel 2 News as “a white Zionist” on Wednesday evening and argued that Israelis “should respect someone like me.”

The anchor had asked Spencer about the role of “alt-right” supporters in a march in Charlottesville, Viriginia on Friday, in which torch-bearing white nationalists shouted “Jews will not replace us!” in protest of the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee.

“Let’s be honest,” Spencer said, when asked whether such slogans constitute anti-Semitism. “Jews are vastly over-represented in what you could call ‘the establishment,’ that is, Ivy League educated people who really determine policy, and white people are being dispossesed from this country."

Asked how the mainly Jewish audience at home should take his remarks, Spencer responded:

 “... an Israeli citizen, someone who understands your identity, who has a sense of nationhood and peoplehood, and the history and experience of the Jewish people, you should respect someone like me, who has analogue feelings about whites. You could say that I am a white Zionist – in the sense that I care about my people, I want us to have a secure homeland for us and ourselves. Just like you want a secure homeland in Israel.”

This isn’t the first time Spencer has tried to wink at Israel. Last December, he told Haaretz that he “respects Israel” and that he would “respect” the decision to move the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

In an August 2010 article called “An Alliance with theJews,” published on his Radix Journal website, Spencer argued that Israel could become an ally of white nationalists in the United States. He wrote that in the face of the threat of nuclear weapons in countries hostile to Israel, there would be “hard-liners” in Israel who would prefer to see the extreme right in the White House.

Spencer, however, has also made headlines and sparked widespread outrage by making anti-Semitic remarks and engaging in Holocaust denial. Last December, for instance, the "alt-right" leader praised Trump's Holocaust Remembrance Day statement that failed to mention Jews and anti-Semitism as an important step, dubbing it the "de-Judaification" of the Holocaust.

Spencer, a onetime Duke University PhD student, championed Trump through the presidential campaign – and though he has been critical of the president at times, seems to have come around to Trump. While he claims he's not a Nazi, Spencer also does not outright condemn Hitler, calling him a “historical figure.”

Why Israel isn’t shocked by anti-Semites in White House

Israel does not appear shocked by the appointment of racist anti-Semites to senior positions in US President-elect Donald Trump’s administration. There is no wonder there. First of all, it is not in our power to change it. Our complete dependence on the United States forces us to hold our tongue and restrain ourselves.

• Second, a world view which supports white supremacy matches our government’s interests. If Trump’s people are more disgusted by Arabs than they are by Jews (the liberals, the Wall Street people, journalists from the East Coast, lovers of black people, Hillary Clinton’s friends), we have struck quite a good deal. Trump and his friends see Israel as a forefront against the barbarians, and they are not exactly very observant.

To do the Netanyahu government justice, let me qualify my statement by saying that all forms of Zionism hold the perception that a certain extent of anti-Semitism benefits the Zionist enterprise. To put it more sharply, anti-Semitism is the generator and ally of Zionism. Masses of Jews leave their place of residence only when their economic situation and physical safety are undermined. Masses of Jews are shoved to this country rather than being attracted to it. The yearning for the land of Zion and Jerusalem is not strong enough to drive millions of Jews to the country they love and make them hold on to its clods.

As the Jews in Israel long for immigrants with a certain affiliation to their people, and as Zionism—like any other ideology—needs constant justification, we have a secret hope in our hearts that a moderate anti-Semitic wave, along with a deterioration in the economic situation in their countries of residence, will make Diaspora Jews realize that they belong with us. Is proof even necessary? No one will protest the assertion that the rise in anti-Semitism in France gave us some satisfaction, in the sense of “we warned you, didn’t we?” Late Prime Minister Ariel Sharon did not hesitate to make such a declaration, angering the French government and many Jews who see themselves as unconditional French citizens. Thousands of Jews from France who see Israel as a lifeboat, as an insurance policy, purchased apartments here and raised real estate prices in the coastal cities. That’s good. It proves Zionism was right. Furthermore, no one can deny that the economic crisis in the Soviet empire, coupled with the nesting anti-Semitism there, were the cause of the immigration to Israel of about 1 million Jews and their non-Jewish relatives, most of whom have no affiliation to Jewish culture. Neither can anyone contradict the embarrassing fact that Israel worked to lock the gates to the US, the opening of which may have directed many of these Jews and their relatives there, and perhaps even most of them.

It was not the Jewish immigrants’ welfare that we saw before our eyes, but the state’s reinforcement. While the act of blocking and directing the Jews to Israel is ethically dubious, it was justified by the Zionist ideology which asserts that a normalization of the Jewish situation—in other words, concentrating the Jewish people in its own territory—is the only thing that will save us from another Holocaust and, according to some people, will even speed up the Messiah’s arrival.

The Jews’ comfortable situation in America raises doubts as to whether it was worthwhile to gamble on the establishment of a Jewish state. The normalization did not provide us, the Israelis, with a normal existence and did not lessen the anti-Semitism which is now drawing some of its arguments from the way we are managing the conflict with the Palestinians. There are Israelis whose parents or grandparents immigrated to Israel out a belief that this is where the agonizing historical journey will end, and now their offspring are learning that the promise has not been fulfilled.

In order to remove these malignant doubts, it would be good to have some anti-Semitism in America. Not serious anti-Semitism, not pogroms, not persecutions that will empty America from its Jews, as we need them there, but just a taste of this pungent stuff, so that we can restore our faith in Zionism.

White Zionism – Why The ‘Alt-Right’ Hates Jews But Loves Israel

It has become almost an apocryphal tale of America’s liberal Zionists and their PEP (Progressive Except for Palestine) attitudes.  America’s Jews generally support liberal politics and the vast majority of them voted against Donald Trump.  Why?   Because racial intolerance and bigotry aren’t in their interest.  They know enough to know that anti-Semitism and white supremacism have always gone hand in hand.

The problem though is that the majority of them, even today, support to a greater or lesser extent the State of Israel.  The State of Israel is not a liberal haven but the bastion of a far-Right openly racist government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu.  Netanyahu it was who tweeted to Donald Trump that Israel had already built a wall to keep out asylum seekers.  He was referring to the wall across the border with Egypt to keep out African refugees.  Netanyahu explained that non-Jewish refugees, especially Black Africans, explained that ‘"If we don't stop their entry, the problem that currently stands at 60,000 could grow to 600,000, and that threatens our existence as a Jewish and democratic state," Israel PM: illegal African immigrants threaten identity of Jewish state

So when Rabbi Rosenberg, who heads the Zionist organisation for students, Hillel at Texas A&M told Richard Spencer of the alt-Right that “My tradition teaches a message of radical inclusion and love,” Spencer responded by asking how radical this inclusion was.  Maybe all of the Middle East could come to Tel Aviv he asked mischievously.  The good Rabbi was more than aware that Israel is anything but inclusive.  It hasn’t taken a single Syrian refugee.  It refuses to give citizenship to any of the thousands of migrant labourers from Asia.  It even prevents its own Palestinian citizens from marrying anyone in the West Bank.  And of course in order to ensure that the Jewish race maintains its ‘identity’ and purity, there is no religious marriage either.

The good rabbi was literally stunned into silence - he had no answer.  How could he support segregation and the racist Law of Return when it came to Israel but support liberal immigration policies and anti-racist in America.  He simply had no answer to this dilemma and the writer of the article has no answer either.

It is not any wonder that Israel  presents a model to most of the American far-Right, just as it is a model for most of the European far-Right?  Of course there are dedicated neo-Nazis like Andrew Anglin of the Daily Stormer for whom any Jew is an enemy.  But Anglin and fully blown neo-Nazism represents a minority current within the American alt-Right.  For those like Spencer and Breitbart News, anti-Semitism and dislike of Jews co-exists quite happily with strong support for Israel.  Israel is not only the ideal pure racial state but it is also the hammer of Muslims.  The fact that it is Jewish is neither here nor there.

Below is another anguished article in the Jewish Forward magazine, which is finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that the alt-Right which has come into the political mainstream thanks to Trump, combines both love of Israel and a dislike and worse of ordinary Jews.  It proves though once again that being an anti-Semite is no barrier to being a Zionist.

That is why people like Spencer and Milo Yiannopoulos former senior editor of Breitbart, who has openly said that Jews control the media and the banks, call themselves White Zionists.  Israel provides the perfect model for white supremacists (who like Jewish supremacists call themselves nationalists).   Hence why Spencer says that his ‘white “homeland,” he said, would be “very similar to how Jews conceive of Israel.”

That of course is why those who claim there is any correlation between anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism are either outright liars or mainstream fools (or both).

The ‘Alt-Right’ Hates the Jews. But It Also Loves Them — and Israel.

When Rabbi Matt Rosenberg went to a speech presented by one of the country’s leading white nationalists, he hoped to make a statement about the power of Judaism. During a question-and-answer session after the talk, Rosenberg, who heads Hillel at Texas A&M, asked Richard Spencer, the self-styled ambassador of the “alt-right,” whether the two could sit down and study together.

“My tradition teaches a message of radical inclusion and love,” Rosenberg said. “Will you sit town and learn Torah with me, and learn love?”

“Do you really want radical inclusion into the State of Israel?” Spencer asked, a smile spreading across his face. “And by that I mean radical inclusion. Maybe all of the Middle East could go move into Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. Would you really want that?”

Rosenberg fell silent. Spencer did not. He went on, saying the Jewish people have prevailed because they resist assimilation — and he respected that.

“Jews exist precisely because you did not assimilate,” he said. “I respect that about you. I want my people to have that same sense of themselves.” The two men were speaking about different Jewish paradigms: Jews as nation versus Jews as citizens of the world. One of them Spencer praised; the other he sneered at.

To be sure, the “alt-right,” a contemporary label preferred by white separatists, traffics in xenophobia and nativism of all sorts, including anti-Semitism. Jews are hardly its only, or most prominent, target, but the specter of imagined Jewish control, in which Jews seek to undermine white civilization, is a constant boogeyman.

Yet messages like Spencer’s at Texas A&M reveal another layer of this latest brand of white nationalism. Spencer says his dream of building a “white ethno-state” is “very similar to how Jews conceive of Israel.” He even describes his vision as something like “white Zionism.”

Spencer’s complicated relationship with Jews is illustrative. In the sprawling and divided world of the “alt-right” there are multiple factions. All groups imagine whites as an embattled group, whose white power and control is under threat from non-whites. But they are divided on the next part: Are Jews an enemy to the white nation, a model to emulate, or some combination?

In a glossy promotional video for Spencer’s organization, the National Policy Institute, a pro-Israel march flashes across the screen as Spencer reads aloud, “At a time when every other people is asserting its own [identity]… are we ready to become who we are?”

‘Jesus Christ Was A Jewish Klansman.’

Spencer isn’t the first white separatist to hold seemingly contradictory views on the Jews. Earlier white supremacists like the Ku Klux Klan had a similar love-hate relationship; Spencer and his cohort are building on these foundations.

In a 1926 tract on “religious and patriotic ideals,” one KKK-affiliated minister praised Jews as “a wonderful people,” particularly the way in which they have maintained the “purity of their racial blood, refusing to intermarry with other races.”

The minister, a Texan named W. C. Wright, called Jesus Christ a Klansman — because he “belonged to the oldest Klan in existence, the Jewish theocracy.”

In Wright’s imagination, Jesus promoted a type of Jewish supremacy — just as the KKK fought for white supremacy. “Jews have been Klannish since the days of Abraham,” Wright wrote.

Even an Imperial Wizard of the KKK’s heyday had praise, of sorts, for Jews. Alabama-born Hiram Wesley Evans, who presided over the KKK in the 1920s, called Jews “healthy, morally alert, energetic, loyal and reverent.”

But there always has been — and still is — a flipside to this admiration of the Jews.

In 1923 address titled “The Menace of Modern Immigration,” Evans called Jews “alien and inassimilable,” a breed of people who demonstrated an “evil influence.”

“There [was] admiration but also a nervousness about what Jews mean for larger national culture,” Kelly J. Baker, author of “Gospel According to the Klan,” told the Forward. “They were saying: ‘We can admire that they have not assimilated, that they have stayed separate — and immediately follow it, ‘But I think they are primarily evil.’”

‘I Began Rethinking Everything.’

Years ago, before his David Duke affiliations, “Hail Trump” Nazi salutes and rise to fame amid the campaign of Donald Trump, Spencer attended elite private schools in Dallas. Some of his classmates and friends were Jewish.

“The Jews were the kids that told me Santa Claus wasn’t real. They were kind of nerdy and little different,” Spencer said. “I didn’t have any major problems with them.”

Spencer didn’t reflect too much on Jewishness or on race at all.

He was a dedicated student, and in 2005, Spencer entered a doctoral program at Duke University, studying European intellectual history.

But he dropped out, his website reads, “to pursue a life of thought-crime.”

He had flirted with far-right ideology, but in the next years he would make a more dramatic shift. “I knew there was something wrong with the world,” Spencer told the Forward. “I began rethinking everything.”

In 2010 he founded a website called AlternativeRight.com and around the same time took the helm at the NPI think-tank, which is “dedicated to the heritage, identity, and future of people of European descent in the United States.”

Among his influences he cites Jared Taylor, the white nationalist editor of the website American Renaissance, which describes itself as the “premier race-realist site” on the internet. An early mentor of Spencer’s, Paul Gottfried, the inventor of the term “alternative right,” is Jewish and is a graduate of Yeshiva University.

Taylor describes himself as a “white advocate,” but he has made clear that he has no problem working with Jews; one time, he even banned discussion of the so-called “Jewish question” from online forums associated with American Renaissance.

And Spencer has said he respects some Jewish nationalists, including the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu.

“I would say, if I were to have a beer with Netanyahu I bet we would agree on everything. I think we would see eye to eye,” Spencer said. “If I had a beer with Jon Stewart, he would be horrified and I would be annoyed.”

Spencer’s “white ethno state” is his long-term goal. It’s just a dream, he says, and he’s not sure how to get there. But he evokes the success of the Zionist project. His white “homeland,” he said, would be “very similar to how Jews conceive of Israel.”

Theodor Herzl conceived of his Jewish state as a solution to the imperiled condition of Jews in the Diaspora. Herzl and his cohort feared that something catastrophic was on the horizon. The horrors of the Holocaust — millions of Jews murdered by the Nazis — were the heinous culmination of European anti-Semitism. The mass killing helped galvanize support for the Jewish national project in the Middle East.

Israel’s founding document, its Declaration of Independence, while declaring the country a Jewish state, also made a “striking embrace of all peoples and religions,” said Jonathan Sarna, professor of American Jewish history at Brandeis University.

“It would be difficult to square that with the notion of a white nation,” Sarna said. “That is the very opposite of what the white nationalists want.”

For “alt-right” members who see Zionism in a positive light of sorts, it may have little to do with the country of Israel itself.

“For a lot of people, Israel is a Rorschach test,” Sarna said. “What they see in Israel tells us more about them than it does about Israel.”

Spencer compares himself to pre-state Zionist thinkers, seeing his role as a dreamer — not necessarily as someone who would build his whites-only nation, but one who would lay conceptual groundwork for a state.

“A similar thing could be said of Jews. Jews were imagining Zionism there is a Jewish state in the Middle East,” Spencer said in a radio interview with the website Reveal. “You have to dream it before you build it.” he said, trying his hand at a very Herzlian-sounding mantra.

There “is often talk about ‘Zionism’ as being a horrible evil that intends to take over the world,” author Brett Stevens wrote in August on the website Alternative-right.blogpost.com, “forgetting that Zionism is an assertion of Nationalism — the idea that Jews need their own state, and all Jews belong there, where they can control their destiny and live according to their ways.”

‘There Are Two Alt-Rights.’

Still, Spencer’s admiration for Jews is mixed with repulsion — particularly the belief that Jews have played a negative and outsize role in the decline of white civilization. And this attitude can be found across the contemporary white nationalist camp, which is beset with internecine disputes.

He calls the so-called “Jewish question” (or “JQ,” in contemporary “alt-right” lingo) among the most “complicated and difficult” topics for white nationalists. The term “Jewish question” of course is best known for its use in Nazi Germany, where leaders gathered on the shores of Lake Wannsee outside Berlin to plan the “Final Solution to the Jewish Question in Europe.”

He sees some liberal Jews, like the Texan rabbi, as “duplicitous,” presenting their case in “gooey, universalistic” terms. “I think it is easy to understand black crime, illegal immigrants, that’s in your face,” Spencer said. “But the Jewish question is extremely complicated.”

Indeed, the question of just how the “alt-right” should relate to Jews is a frequent fault line among Spencer’s followers and fellow travelers.

In December, the divergent views of the “alt-right” on Jews came to a head after online personality Tim Treadstone (better known as “Baked Alaska”) was booted from an upcoming “alt-right” inauguration event called the Deploraball after a series of tweets he wrote about the media being “run in majority by Jewish people.”

“Alt-right” personality Mike Cernovich, the event’s organizer, was worried that Treadstone’s anti-Semitism would undermine the growing political influence of the “alt-right” after Trump’s win. “No Nazi salutes, no JQ bullshit,” Cernovich wrote privately to Treadstone, scolding him and removing him from the event bill shortly thereafter. Paul Joseph Watson, an editor of the conspiracist website Infowars, which is also associated with the “alt-right,” described the “two ‘alt-rights.’”

One likes to wear Trump hats, “create memes & have fun,” he wrote in a public Facebook post. “The other faction likes to fester in dark corners of subreddits and obsess about Jews, racial superiority and Adolf Hitler.”

‘At The End Of The Day, We Are Very Different.’

The most fiercely anti-Jew faction of the “alt-right” may be best personified in Andrew Anglin, who runs the neo-Nazi website the Daily Stormer.

In the ongoing battle for the trajectory of the “alt-right” movement, Anglin has offered his views bluntly: “The goal is to ethnically cleanse white nations of nonwhites and establish an authoritarian government. Many people also believe that the Jews should be exterminated.”

And unlike Spencer, Anglin has no admiration for Israel or Zionism. He cheers terrorist attacks against Israelis, laments the special U.S.-Israel relationship and sees in that relationship an expression of ultimate Jewish power. Anglin’s website has billed itself as the “The World’s Most Visited ‘Alt-Right’ Website” and features stories on alleged Jewish world control and black-on-white crime. Anglin has mounted numerous online campaigns — dubbed “troll storms” — against Jewish public figures. (The attacks have provocative titles, like “Operation: Jew Wife” or “Operation: Filthy Jew Bitch.”)

Anglin’s most recent campaign calls for an armed march against local Jews in Whitefish, Montana, where Spencer lives part time. Montana is among the country’s whitest states and has a minuscule Jewish population; however, the Whitefish area is a Jewish hub of sorts, home to a community of more than 100 families and individuals.

Anglin’s anti-Jewish campaign is in response to local activism against white nationalism and Spencer in particular. But Anglin sees Spencer and his family as the true victims: the Jews, the persecutors.

“The Jewish relationship to the goyim in this country has for decades resembled a man lying on the ground and being kicked in the head. Well, the goyim are standing up,” Anglin — who said he no longer speaks with any Jew on the telephone — wrote in an email to the Forward.

Spencer and Anglin agree on a lot. Spencer imagines the Whitefish Jews as people who have “set up left-wing organizations on their behalf,” perpetually “alien” to the world they live in. Spencer said he appreciates Anglin’s support.

But Spencer has also called for the Whitefish fiasco to “come to an end.”

In his Forward interview, Spencer said he hoped to spend the next weeks around Washington, possibly working on a short documentary. He had no plans to be in Whitefish for the march, building his own movement.

While Anglin rants against Jewish control in rural Montana, Spencer wants to build his “white Zionism” in D.C.

Within the broad category of the “alt-right,” you have people who have “genocidal views and people who have views of admiration, both of which are based on stereotypes,” said Chip Berlet, an independent researcher of white supremacy.

“In the minds of some people, Jews are either exceptionally talented or in league with Satan,” Berlet said. “It’s a love-hate relationship.”

“Clearly there has been a Jewish role in white dispossession,” Spencer said in his Forward interview, echoing Anglin and others. “But the ‘alt-right’ can learn something from Jewish history.”

How, exactly? “We can build networks that are national and international,” Spencer said.

Then he added, “We can also be a bit duplicitous.” 

Guardian Prints Letter from 572 members/supporters of the Labour Party Defending Ken Livingstone

White Supremacists Claim That They Are White Zionists!  

Last Friday the racist Zionist Labour Movement had a letter published in The Guardian, which has run with the 'anti-semitism' witch-hunt, signed by 1300 assorted racist and right-wingers in the Labour Party calling for Ken Livingstone to be expelled.

Tomorrow a letter from 572 of us (at the latest count) will be published by way of reply.  Although we haven't (yet) matched the JLM numbers, given the disparity of resources this is not surprising.  However our letter will be open for further signatures and they will be added periodically to both this and the Free Speech on Israel site.

The theme of the interviewer was that it didn’t matter if what Ken Livingstone said was true, it had ‘given offence’.  Of course the truth does offend the reactionary and racist Zionist leaders of the Jewish community and the Zionist movement.  They don’t want to be reminded of a time in the past when the Zionist movement collaborated with the Nazis to build their ‘Jewish’ state.  A time when the Zionist project was held to be more important than destroying the Hitler regime.

Racists like Tom Watson and the Jewish Labour Movement want to expel Ken Livingstone who has been at the forefront of anti-racism in the Labour Party

Edwin Black, who is a devoted Zionist, wrote the definitive book on Ha'avara, the trade agreement between the Zionists and the Nazis, The Transfer Agreement.  Ha'avara, destroyed the Anti-Nazi Boycott.  That was why the Nazis agreed to it. ‘The leaders of Germany realized that the anti-Hitler boycott was threatening to kill the Third Reich in its infancy, either through utter bankruptcy or by promoting an imminent invasion of Germany…’ [Black p. 110 see also p.130].

Black wrote that the Zionists promised to ‘halt the worldwide Jewish-led anti-Nazi Boycott that threatened to topple the Hitler regime in its first year. [Black, p. xix]  The actions of the Zionist Organisation allowed Hitler to drive a wedge into the world-wide boycott of German goods. Zionists who portray themselves today in the Labour Party as concerned with ‘anti-Semitism’ especially when Israel is on the agenda, don’t like it when their real history as a quisling movement in the 1930's is brought up today.  Because the reality is that it is the far-right and open fascists – from Marine Le Pen in France to Geert Wilders in The Netherlands to our own BNP and EDL – who are the greatest supporters of Israel.  Israel is the model state.

White Supremacists Claim To Be ‘White Zionists’

A good example of the nonsense behind the claims that it is the left who are anti-Semitic is what happened at the A&M University in College Station, Texas last December.  In two articles in the Jewish Forward Alt Right’ Leader Ties White Supremacy to Zionism — Leaves Rabbi Speechless and Speechless Rabbi Admits Losing Argument Over Racism and Israel to White Supremacist Richard Spencer Josh Nathan-Kazis and Daniel Solomon tell how during a question-and-answer session, Rabbi Matt Rosenberg stood and invited Richard Spencer, the white nationalist who led a chant of ‘Heil Trump’ to a far-right crowd of neo-Nazis.  Rabbi Rosenberg said:

“My tradition teaches a message of radical inclusion and love,” Rosenberg said. “Will you sit town and learn Torah with me, and learn love?”

The Forward reported that ‘Spencer declined the invitation, but used it as an opportunity to suggest that the objectives of Zionism and Jewish continuity were close to his own goals for white people.’  He asked:

“Do you really want radical inclusion into the State of Israel?” Spencer said. “And by that I mean radical inclusion. Maybe all of the Middle East could go move in to Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. Would you really want that?”

“You’re not answering,” Spencer said.

“I’m not answering,” Rosenberg said.

The reason was, of course, that Israel is anything but a state of radical inclusion.  It is a state of Jewish supremacy and it does its best, even today, to remove Arabs from its midst.  It is for that reason that racists and neo-Nazis in the West admire it.  That is also why we have to call out the Jewish Labour racists who seek to sell Israel in the Labour Party as some kind of oasis of socialism.

When Tom Watson, John Mann and the rest of the right-wing ratbags go on about Israel being a haven of democracy we should point out that it is White Supremacists, the Breitbarts and Steve Bannons of this world who most love Israel.

A Zionist rabbi finds it hard to explain why he supports a multi-cultural society in America, where religion and state are separated but supports a Jewish exclusivist society in Israel

 We, unlike Tom Watson and the Labour Right, support free speech on Israel and Palestine.  Having held one Star Chamber hearing and failed to get their desired outcome they are calling for another, expedited hearing which will do what was expected of it the first time round and expel Ken Livingstone.  We have to make it abundantly clear, despite Corbyn's usual prevarications, that we will not allow this to happen.  Free Speech in the Labour Party is more important than the defence of an Apartheid State of Israel.

To back up their demands, last Friday the Guardian printed a letter from the Jewish Labour Movement from 1300 people calling for Livingstone to be expelled.  Despite the misleading headline Jewish Labour members say Livingstone must go many of those signing were not Jewish but members of the Progress Party, such as the right-wing leader of Brighton and Hove Council, Warren Morgan and various equally Jewish councillors.  Indeed many of them, like the recently resigned Brighton Labour Councillor Inkpin-Leissner are anti-Labour.

That is why I drafted a letter in response to the Guardian and appealed to people to sign it.  So far 566 people have signed it. 

The letter has also been placed on the Free Speech on Israel site.  Amongst those signing have been Oliver and Rita Gaggs from Cambridge Labour Party.  They have been members of the party for over 60 years but if Livingstone is expelled they will leave too.  The entire Executive of South West Norfolk CLP has endorsed the letter.  So if you haven’t signed it and you are a member or supporter of the Labour Party please sign too!  Just send an email to me at tonygreenstein104@gmail.com

Letter to the Guardian

Dear Sir or Madam

As Jewish and non-Jewish members and supporters of the Labour Party, we reject the call from supporters of Zionism and the Labour Right for the expulsion of Ken Livingstone. [Jewish Labour members say Livingstone must go, April 6th]

Those who call for a new disciplinary hearing simply because they didn’t like the conclusions of the previous one, demonstrate their contempt for democracy and due process.

A year ago Livingstone, responding to a question from Vanessa Feltz on BBC Radio London, said: ‘Let’s remember when Hitler won his election in 1932, his policy then was that Jews should be moved to Israel. He was supporting Zionism.’

There is nothing whatsoever anti-Semitic about this.  Francis Nicosia, the Raul Hilberg Professor of Holocaust Studies at Vermont University wrote in his book Zionism and Anti-Semitism in Nazi Germany (p. 79) that:

‘Throughout the 1930s, as part of the regime’s determination to force Jews to leave Germany, there was almost unanimous support in German government and Nazi party circles for promoting Zionism among German Jews’   Is telling the truth also anti-Semitic?

As Donald Trump and his supporters demonstrate, support for Zionism can go hand in hand with anti-Semitism. 

What the campaign against Livingstone is really about is his long-standing support for the Palestinians and his opposition to Zionism and the policies of the Israeli state. 

Those who help to throw Livingstone overboard today are preparing the way for Jeremy Corbyn’s removal tomorrow.
