Labour Campaign for Free Speech Conference – Saturday February 13th 2 p.m. – It’s time to stand up and be counted

As the Board of Deputies and Tory Students at Oxford University Try to Stop Ken Loach Speaking the Time to Defend Free Speech is Now

I cannot remember a time when free speech has been under attack such as it is today. In the name of ‘anti-Semitism’ there was an attempt last week by snotty Tory bigots at St. Peter’s College, Oxford to silence the world famous film producer Ken Loach.

How did these juvenile racists get to ‘prove’ that Loach, a man who has fought against injustice all his life, was an ‘anti-Semite’?  Simple. They used the device of cut and paste in order to quote him out of context whilst ignoring his massive contribution to the fight against racism, imperialism and the oppression of ordinary working class people.

The Board of Deputies Launches Another Attack on Freedom of Speech on Behalf of the Israeli State

Of course these students are training to be our ruling class and they seek to cover themselves in the mantle of ‘anti-racism’ trading on the memory of the Jews who died in the holocaust.  Their only purpose being to defend Israel, Zionism’s bastard state which vaccinates only Jews leaving out 5 million Palestinians.

You might think that if the students of St Peters were seriously interested in racism they might turn their attention to the statue of Cecil Rhodes outside Oriel College. Rhodes was a man who hunted Africans on horseback as if they were game.

A scene from I Daniel Blake

But of course Oxford’s upper class brats aren’t interested in opposing racism but defending it and who have they chosen to vilify and ban but one of the few filmmakers who has devoted his life to standing up against oppression. Loach’s back catalogue is testimony to his fight for the liberation of humanity and against the privilege that these Oxford students represent. Films like Kes, I Daniel Blake, The Wind that Shook the Barley and Land and Freedom. It says something about the British education system that it can produce a cluster of well-bred philistines.

Unfortunately those that we might expect to stand up and be counted like Liberty (formerly National Council for Civil Liberties) are also silent. Meanwhile the IHRA, a tool for conflating anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism is the choice of every racist and anti-Semite world-wide, from Trump to Orban.

A previous rally for the Campaign for Free Speech

Tomorrow the newly formed (Labour) Campaign for Free Speech will be holding its founding conference. In the Labour Party free speech has been under attack by its failing leader Sir Keir Starmer and his glove puppet David Evans.  There have been suspensions and expulsions all round, of Jews especially, all in the name of fighting ‘anti-Semitism’! Yet the same Starmer is incapable of saying anything about a state which bars Arabs from 93% of the land.

Only this week the Guardian, which was as devoted to undermining Jeremy Corbyn as the Daily Mail, sacked its columnist Nathan Robinson for having tweeted his opposition to US aid to Israel.

We have a host of interesting speakers tomorrow including Norman Finkelstein, author of Holocaust Industry, whose parents were both survivors of concentration camps. Ronnie Kasrills, the Jewish Commander of the ANC’s military wing, Umkonte we-Sizwe, is also speaking as is Jackie Walker – the Black Jewish former Vice-Chair of Momentum whom Jon Lansman stabbed in the back.  Chris Williamson, the former MP for Derby North who was hounded out of the Labour Party and the only MP to stand up against the witchhunt will be speaking as will Graham Bash of Jewish Voices for Labour.

Ronnie Kasrils - Jewish former Commander of the ANC's military wing, Umkonte we Sizwe

Also speaking will be Sami Ramadani from Stop the War Coalition, Jamie Stern-Weiner an expert on the IHRA and Professor David Miller of the University of Bristol who has also been targeted by Zionist witchhunters who are demanding that he be sacked for holding what to them are unacceptable views.

The final speaker will be Esther Giles, suspended Secretary of Bristol North-West who was removed by Save Our Socialists and Momentum from a rally last Sunday at the behest of Liverpool’s Lord Mayor Anna Rothery, for not bowing to political correctness over trans rights.

You can register here. For further information go to the Labour Against the Witchhunt page. As the electorate are turning their back on Starmer’s Labour now is the time to stand up to the apostles of Apartheid Israel. Come and join us.

As George Orwell said, ‘If liberty means anything at all it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.’ Today the ruling class and their apprentices at Oxford University are desperate to prevent you hearing the truth about Israel and what the Zionist movement does and has done, not least during the holocaust.

Come and join us!

The following statement has gone viral over Facebook and has been sent to us by several people. It was issued by a group called "Gaza Youth Breaks Out." When we contacted them for more information they sent this response, "We are a group of young people living in Gaza facing different kinds of violence everyday. We are looking for change in our country and trying to taste peace. we can't give you names bcz we are working undercover and we can't have meetings as well for our safety." The also sent ways you can support their work which we pasted after the statement.
GAZAN YOUTH’S MANIFESTO FOR CHANGE

Fuck Hamas. Fuck Israel. Fuck Fatah. Fuck UN. Fuck UNWRA. Fuck USA! We, the youth in Gaza, are so fed up with Israel, Hamas, the occupation, the violations of human rights and the indifference of the international community! We want to scream and break this wall of silence, injustice and indifference like the Israeli F16’s breaking the wall of sound; scream with all the power in our souls in order to release this immense frustration that consumes us because of this fucking situation we live in; we are like lice between two nails living a nightmare inside a nightmare, no room for hope, no space for freedom. We are sick of being caught in this political struggle; sick of coal dark nights with airplanes circling above our homes; sick of innocent farmers getting shot in the buffer zone because they are taking care of their lands; sick of bearded guys walking around with their guns abusing their power, beating up or incarcerating young people demonstrating for what they believe in; sick of the wall of shame that separates us from the rest of our country and keeps us imprisoned in a stamp-sized piece of land; sick of being portrayed as terrorists, homemade fanatics with explosives in our pockets and evil in our eyes; sick of the indifference we meet from the international community, the so-called experts in expressing concerns and drafting resolutions but cowards in enforcing anything they agree on; we are sick and tired of living a shitty life, being kept in jail by Israel, beaten up by Hamas and completely ignored by the rest of the world.

There is a revolution growing inside of us, an immense dissatisfaction and frustration that will destroy us unless we find a way of canalizing this energy into something that can challenge the status quo and give us some kind of hope. The final drop that made our hearts tremble with frustration and hopelessness happened 30rd November, when Hamas’ officers came to Sharek Youth Forum, a leading youth organization (www.sharek.ps) with their guns, lies and aggressiveness, throwing everybody outside, incarcerating some and prohibiting Sharek from working. A few days later, demonstrators in front of Sharek were beaten and some incarcerated. We are really living a nightmare inside a nightmare. It is difficult to find words for the pressure we are under. We barely survived the Operation Cast Lead, where Israel very effectively bombed the shit out of us, destroying thousands of homes and even more lives and dreams. They did not get rid of Hamas, as they intended, but they sure scared us forever and distributed post traumatic stress syndrome to everybody, as there was nowhere to run.

We are youth with heavy hearts. We carry in ourselves a heaviness so immense that it makes it difficult to us to enjoy the sunset. How to enjoy it when dark clouds paint the horizon and bleak memories run past our eyes every time we close them? We smile in order to hide the pain. We laugh in order to forget the war. We hope in order not to commit suicide here and now. During the war we got the unmistakable feeling that Israel wanted to erase us from the face of the earth. During the last years Hamas has been doing all they can to control our thoughts, behaviour and aspirations. We are a generation of young people used to face missiles, carrying what seems to be a impossible mission of living a normal and healthy life, and only barely tolerated by a massive organization that has spread in our society as a malicious cancer disease, causing mayhem and effectively killing all living cells, thoughts and dreams on its way as well as paralyzing people with its terror regime. Not to mention the prison we live in, a prison sustained by a so-called democratic country.
History is repeating itself in its most cruel way and nobody seems to care. We are scared. Here in Gaza we are scared of being incarcerated, interrogated, hit, tortured, bombed, killed. We are afraid of living, because every single step we take has to be considered and well-thought, there are limitations everywhere, we cannot move as we want, say what we want, do what we want, sometimes we even cant think what we want because the occupation has occupied our brains and hearts so terrible that it hurts and it makes us want to shed endless tears of frustration and rage!

We do not want to hate, we do not want to feel all of this feelings, we do not want to be victims anymore. ENOUGH! Enough pain, enough tears, enough suffering, enough control, limitations, unjust justifications, terror, torture, excuses, bombings, sleepless nights, dead civilians, black memories, bleak future, heart aching present, disturbed politics, fanatic politicians, religious bullshit, enough incarceration! WE SAY STOP! This is not the future we want!

another terrorist

We want three things. We want to be free. We want to be able to live a normal life. We want peace. Is that too much to ask? We are a peace movement consistent of young people in Gaza and supporters elsewhere that will not rest until the truth about Gaza is known by everybody in this whole world and in such a degree that no more silent consent or loud indifference will be accepted.
This is the Gazan youth’s manifesto for change!
We will start by destroying the occupation that surrounds ourselves, we will break free from this mental incarceration and regain our dignity and self respect. We will carry our heads high even though we will face resistance. We will work day and night in order to change these miserable conditions we are living under. We will build dreams where we meet walls.
We only hope that you – yes, you reading this statement right now! – can support us. In order to find out how, please write on our wall or contact us directly: freegazayouth@hotmail.com

We want to be free, we want to live, we want peace.

How Israel shattered Gaza truce leading to escalating death and tragedy: a timeline

The Lies that the BBC and the Capitalist Media Propogate

One of the favourite lies that those accomplices to murder who operate in BBC and media newsrooms never tire of telling is how Israel is 'responding' to the rocket fire of the Palestinians in Gaza.  How, after months and years of endless rockets, their patience has finally snapped.

As Nazi Germany's Propaganda Minister, Josef Goebbels explained:
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”
George Orwell often referred in 1984 to the use of the technique of the 'big lie' - that Black is White.  Israel and its propaganda ghoul, Mark Regev, are past masters of Goebbels technique.  Thus Israel is engaged in a war of 'defence' - whilst its planes rain down death and destruction on those who have no means of fighting back, Gaza's civilian population.  A classic definition of a war crime.

Ali Abunimah's Electronic Intifada site has done an inestimable service in giving us a time-line to Israel's lies.

How Israel shattered Gaza truce leading to escalating death and tragedy: a timeline

Today, 3 Israelis were killed as a result of rocket fire from Gaza.

This came after Israel had killed 13 Palestinians, including 3 children and a woman, and injured 115, including 26 children and 25 women since yesterday, 14 November.

This will be presented by Israel – and sympathetic or careless world media – as another justification for Israel’s attacks on Gaza to stop rocket fire. But this narrative is false.

Where there was calm and an effective truce, Israel chose to shatter it, bringing about the current deadly escalation.

In general, Palestinians fired rockets, or attacked the Israeli army, as a response to Israeli attacks, seeking to avoid escalation and publicly embracing a truce. Take a look at the sequence:

On 29 October the BBC reported that “Militants in Gaza have fired 26 rockets into Israel, officials say, amid a flare-up in fighting which shattered a brief ceasefire between the two sides. No injuries were reported from the barrage, in the south of the country.” The BBC said that, “It came hours after Israeli aircraft hit targets in Gaza, after militants fired rockets following the killing by Israel of a Gazan who Israel said fired mortars at its troops.”

BBC reporter Jon Donnison said, “It is often difficult to pinpoint when a specific escalation in violence started - both sides will always remember what they see as a previous act of aggression by the other which enables them to justify their attacks as retaliation.” But we can do better than that.

On 4 November, Israeli forces shot dead “an unarmed, mentally unfit man” walking near an Israeli-imposed “buffer” area inside the occupied Gaza Strip.

Yet, after the 28-29 October “flare-up” reported by the BBC, the Israel-based Twitter account @qassamcount, which catalogues projectiles fired from Gaza toward Israel recorded almost no rocket fire. Qassam Count tweeted at 23:56 UTC on 5 November about just one rocket.

The killing of Ahmad Abu Daqqa

On 8 November, Israeli occupation forces made an incursion into the Gaza Strip near al-Qarara villlage northeast of Khan Yunis fatally injuring a child. According to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR):

They leveled areas of Palestinian land amidst indiscriminate shooting. A few hours later, they moved southwards to ‘Abassan village. They opened fire indiscriminately and leveled areas of Palestinian land. An Israeli helicopter gunship also opened fire at the area. At approximately 16:30, as a result of the indiscriminate shooting by IOF [Israeli occupation forces] military vehicles, 13-year-old Ahmed Younis Khader Abu Daqqa was seriously wounded by a bullet to the abdomen. At the time he was shot, Ahmed had been playing football with his friends in front of his family’s house, located nearly 1,500 meters away from the area where the IOF were present.

Ahmad Abu Daqqa, profiled by The Electronic Intifada’s Rami Almeghari, died of his injuries.

On 9 November, the day after the killing of Ahmad Abu Daqqa:

Palestinians attack Israeli army, Israeli army kills civilians

On 10 November, Palestinian resistance fighters attacked an Israeli army jeep near the boundary with Gaza, injuring 4 Israeli occupation soldiers.

Following this, Israel attacked civilian neighborhoods in Gaza. In the ensuing 72 hour period, Israeli forced killed 7 Palestinians. According to PCHR, five of the dead were civilians, including 3 children. Fifty-two others, including 6 women and 12 children were wounded.

“Four of these deaths and 38 of the injuries resulted from an Israeli attack on a football playground in al-Shoja’iya neighborhood east of Gaza City,” PCHR reported.

Not surprisingly, Palestinians fired rockets into Israel, as recorded by “Qassam Count”:

Truce talks

Qassam Count records no rockets on 11 November. This can perhaps be explained by the fact that Palestinian factions were in talks over a truce and were keen to see calm restored.

Israel’s Ynet reported on 11 November:

Egyptian Intelligence officials have successfully brokered an end to the current round of escalation in the south, Ynet learned Sunday. No Israeli source has corroborated the report.
The Ynet reported added:

'According to senior Egyptian sources, both Hamas and Islamic Jihad have agreed to hold their fire if Israel suspends its airstrike on Gaza.  Cairo-based sources said that Israel reportedly agreed not to retaliate over sporadic rocket fire from Gaza, as long as it was sans casualties.'
Yet on 12 November, two rockets were fired into Israel according to Qassam Count. This came amid two days of air attacks by Israel on the Gaza Strip.

Truce takes hold

Reuters reported on 13 November:

After five days of mounting violence, Israel and the Palestinians stepped back from the brink of a new war in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, sending signals to each other via Egypt that they would hold their fire unless attacked.

The report added:

Ismail Haniyeh, prime minister of Gaza’s Hamas government, praised the main armed factions in the enclave for agreeing on Monday night to a truce. “They showed a high sense of responsibility by saying they would respect calm should the Israeli occupation also abide by it,” he said.

Israel destroys the truce

Yet Israel was not interested in calm.

On 14 November Israel carried out the extrajudicial killing of Hamas military chief Ahmad al-Jabari.

Reuters noted that the Israeli attack “appeared to end a 24-hour lull in cross-border violence that surged this week.”

The rest is tragic history, some undoubtedly yet to be written in innocent blood.

2009 Demonstration in London - over 100,000 strong
 An Israeli pattern

Israel’s contempt for truces and ceasefires is nothing new. In November 2008, Israel broke a months-long ceasefire, manufacturing a crisis that it then used to justify its December 2008-January 2009 massacre of 1,400 people in Gaza.

Israel has a long, well-documented history of breaking ceasefire after ceasefire, but you would never know it by watching the news or reading, say, The New York Times.

It is also important to keep in mind the context that Israel and Palestinians in Gaza are not symmetrical “sides.” Gaza is a small, impoverished enclave, home to 1.6 million people, some 80 percent of whom are refugees. Gaza is under a tight siege and blockade by Israel, the occupying power.
