The Al Tafawk Children’s Centre which we have been supporting for 7 years is now under constant military harassment with the IDF entering the Centre at will, with guns pointed at staff. That is why we held a webinar last night with a range of speakers. Now we need to build solidarity with Al Tafawk.

The Children of Al Tafawk

The Al Tafawk Centre was established in 2010 in Jenin Refugee Camp. In January 2025 the refugee camp was demolished and with it the Al Tafawk Centre.

With much difficulty the Centre set up anew in the centre of Jenin city. However the harassment has continued and increased. In essence any Palestinian civil society organisation is seen by Israel as a threat to it as it seeks to ethnically cleanse the whole of the West Bank.

In 2021 and 2023 the Israeli Defence Forces entered the Centre and wrecked its interior.  See:

Speakers at the webinar, which was chaired by Ghada Karmi, a well known Palestinian author an academic, included Khaled Quzmar from DCI‑ Palestine, a charity dedicated to protecting children which was declared a terrorist organisation in 2021.

Samer Jaber, a former Child Prisoner  in Palestine who now lives in England spoke of the trauma that still haunts him.

Karen, a former English volunteer at the Centre spoke of her experiences at the Centre and the situation they face and then Mona, the Manager/Head Teacher spoke about how desperate the situation was. Mona herself has been assaulted by the IDF on numerous occasions.

Naomi Wayne, a trustees from the British Shalom-Salaam Trust, a Jewish charity, also spoke about the help that her charity had given the Al Tafawk centre and finally Tony Greenstein of the Brighton Trust spoke.

Everyone who I spoke to afterwards described the webinar and the speakers as extremely moving. It is one of the most despicable things about the Israeli occupation that they target even the youngest children for their brutality and sadism.

In my speech I compared the behaviour and attitude of the Nazis with the behaviour and attitudes of the Zionists.

On October 4 in a speech to senior SS Generals, Heinrich Himmler explained why the Nazis were also exterminating Jewish children:

‘I did not assume to have the right to exterminate the men… and have the avengers personified in the children to become adults for our children and grandchildren.’

Compare this with Rabbi Eliyahu Mali of the Bnei Moshe pre-military yeshiva whose students go off to serve in the IDF. In response to a question about whether it was right to exterminated children as well as adults he replied:

Today's terrorists are the children of the prior [military] operation that left them alive. The women are essentially the ones who are producing the terrorists,... It's not only the 14 or 16-year-old boy, the 20 or 30-year-old man who takes up a weapon against you but also the future generation. There's really no difference

The Zionists compare the Palestinians to the Nazis and cry ‘anti-Semitism’ at the drop of a hat.  But the real comparison today is between the Nazis and their Zionist progeny in Israel.

The Al Tafawk Centre in Jenin was established in 2010 as a sanctuary providing food, education and recreation, to children aged 3–16. It is the only kindergarten in the area. The centre has faced repeated raids, including destruction of its interior in 2021 and 2023, from the Israeli military.

In 2025 the Al Tafawk Centre was destroyed along with Jenin Refugee Camp.  It has re-established itself in Jenin City and is now under constant attack from the IDF. Armed soldiers frequently enter the Centre and assault staff.

We are holding this meeting in order to build political pressure on our complicit government  of war criminals who enable the Israeli state to murder and abuse Palestine’s children. We have a Labour Government that won't even impose sanctions on Israel for killing thousands of children yet it is happy to impose sanctions on Russia and Iran.

Even Israel cannot claim that its right to self-defence includes attacking young children.

On April 10 Defend Children International – Palestine also closed its doors. In 2021 Israel’s Defence Minister, Benny Gantz, a member of the anti-Netanyahu ‘change’ government, designated DCI-P a ‘terrorist’ organisation. The ‘Change’ government was no change for Palestinians.

Lisa Nandy, who believe it or not was Chair of Labour Friends of Palestine has turned out to be a virulent opportunist and racist. She attacked the BBC for briefly putting on the film Gaza:  How  To Survive a Warzone, narrated by children in Gaza because one of their fathers had been a Deputy Minister in Gaza's government.  The allegation of being a Hamas member was unsubstantiated but if so, so what?  Compared to the Israeli government Hamas are like virginal choirboys.

The Zionist Attitude to Palestinian Children Mirrors that of the Nazis to Jewish Children

Israel has historically been obsessed with demographic statistics. How many Jews and Arabs were born in the night. This is natural in a Jewish ethno-nationalist state. Israel isn’t culturally or spiritually or even religiously Jewish – it is racially Jewish.

It is inevitable that that turns into hatred of the other, i.e. the Palestinians. They are not Jewish, not ‘one of us’ they are therefore the enemy. This is as true of ‘liberal’ and ‘left’ Zionists as it is of the right-wing kind.

The same was true of South Africa which fretted about the lack of White immigrants. Christian nationalist states in Eastern Europe were the most enthusiastic participants in the holocaust because Jews rendered their states racially ‘impure’

The children of Jews in Germany and Europe were also seen as a threat to the Volksgemeinschaft, the racially pure community. The same applies in Israel today although, like in Germany, it is often disguised in ‘anti-terrorist’ rhetoric.

In July 2014 Ayelet Shaked of the Jewish Home party, who later became Israel’s Justice Minister in the ‘change’ government, posted a text on Facebook, written by Israeli writer, Uri Elitzur, which referred to Palestinian children as "little snakes." Not only must ‘terrorists die but so must

the mothers of the martyrs, who send them to hell with flowers and kisses. They must follow in the footsteps of their sons, there is nothing more just than that. They must go, and so must the physical house in which they raised the snake. Otherwise, more little snakes will grow there....

In Israel it is the Rabbis who act as the legitimisers for the genocide and murder of children. There are a whole nest of these genocidal vipers who call themselves rabbis.

Rabbi Eliyahu Mali of Bnei Moshe Yeshiva in Jaffa openly advocated  the murder of Palestinian children. Like Himmler he saw Palestinian children as the future generation of fighters.

Rabbi Mali explains why killing Palestinian children is good - this monster teaches future soldiers

Mali called, during a conference on 8 March, for the Israeli army to kill ‘all residents of Gaza’. When asked whether this included babies he said:

“Those who create the terrorists” should also be killed, in reference to women in Gaza. Elderly people are also legitimate targets, according to Mali.

"There is no such thing called innocent creature. By the way, the elderly man is capable of carrying a rifle and shooting. Therefore, the Torah is very clear in the ruling."

Naturally the Israeli Police recommended that no charges be brought against Mali but if he had been an Israeli Palestinian they would have been arrested, beaten up and charged. 

This is the ideology that produces soldiers who set dogs on children and who snipe children in the head for fun in Gaza. This is the state that Starmer, Lammy, Badenoch et al justify, in addition to our own Chief Genocidal Rabbi Mirvis.

As Susan Abuhalwa explained in her speech to the Oxford Union, which that latter body censored,

“… and in the 1980s and ’90s, Israeli soldiers had left booby-trapped toys in southern Lebanon that exploded when excited children picked them up.”

This is a matter of public record, cited in the UK Parliament and multiple reports and periodicals at the time. It speaks volumes that the Oxford Union, which has historically platformed far-right speakers and racists in the name of ‘freedom of speech’ has nonetheless censored pro-Palestinian speech in the name of ‘anti-Semitism’ no doubt.
