ELBIT/SHENSTONE TRIAL UPDATE - WEDNESDAY APRIL 5th

Today the Defence Case Opens With My Cross-Examination

Further Update 6 April

Defence Case Delayed Till Tuesday April 11

Contrary to all expectations, so much time was wasted on things like Agreed Facts (what the Defence & Persecution agree!) that I didn't take the stand on Friday.

It will now be Tuesday April 11 before I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!

BBC forced to show Palestinian flags at entrance to Wolverhampton Court because of major child sex abuse case

People may have see in BBC News yesterday that there was a major child abuse case that was dealt with in Wolverhampton Crown Court, when 21 people were convicted of quite horrifying abuse against children. Shockingly it included 8 women.

I mention this for 2 reasons.

Firstly because it demonstrates to the racist media and politicians that child abuse is not a property of  Pakistanis or Muslims but that it is a product of the sick society we live in.

Secondly because the BBC covered it and were forced to film the front of the court which was bedecked in Palestinian flags.

However the BBC made up for it with their shocking coverage of the attacks on Al Aqsa Mosque by Israel's storm troopers summed up in their headline "clashes erupt at contested holy site." [See Jonathan Cook's excellent How BBC coverage is enabling Israeli state violence at al-Aqsa]

This is a very quick update, sorry for the lateness of the message but I have been preoccupied tonight with an updated Defence Statement and other documents including a conference with my barrister.

At or about 11.30 a.m. the Defence case will open with my giving evidence and then being cross-examined by the Prosecution. For those that can make it, the trial is being held at Wolverhampton Crown Court, which is about 5 minutes from the train station.

It would be good to have as many people as possible attending, both the public gallery and the lobby/picket outside.

  14. The BBC took the opportunity to show the Palestinian flags just above a large lettered banner that read 21 convicted of child sex abuse. It was an attempt to prove guilt by association. The Palestinian flags could have been cropped out of the picture had the BBC wanted to do so. But they did not.
