More Fake News – Zionist Claims that Anti-Semitism has increased by 30% in one year

Despite the headlines - Anti-Semitism in Britain is DECLINING not increasing

A decline in anti-Semitism doesn't serve Zionist interests
Update
A very useful comment by Alan Maddison below.  The salient points are:
  1. Anti-Semitism represents around 1.5% of reported Hate Crimes in the UK.
  2. Evidence of the inflated and tendetious nature of the CST report is that only 8% of claimed incidents are violent compared to the normal ratio for hate crimes of one-third.
  3. One in four hate crime assaults lead to injury compared to none, either this year or last year, in the CST reports.  It clearly suggests that what is counted as an assault is trivial.
This suggests that in comparison with other hate crime incidents, the actual level of incidents in the CST Report are about one-quarter of those claimed.  To include social media posts is absurd, as the CST itself recognises when it counts as a single incident multiple broadcasts by the same outlet.  Social media attacks if actually counted would simply swamp any meaningful statistics given the level of racist tweets and FB comments and posts.  They are on a completely different level from actual verbal abuse or assault.

Anti-semitism is a marginal prejudice compared to racism against Muslims and Roma in most countries
More fake news from Stephen Pollard's Jewish Chronicle

Pollard replies to Jonathan Freedland defending Michal Kaminski
The Community Security Trust, an overtly Zionist organisation, that works closely with Mossad, Israel’s MI6, compiles annual and 6 monthly reports of the incidence of anti-Semitism.  Its figures often differ widely from those of the Police and are subjective.  They are based to a large extent on self-reporting, social media posts and an ingrained Zionist political assumptions that opposition to Israel is inherently anti-Semitic.
The Zionist Communist Security Trust's latest bogus offerings - complete with two helpfully placed display boards
Their latest Report  ANTISEMITIC INCIDENTS - January–June 2017, comes with a photo in some junkyard in Suffolk with a Star of David and the word ‘Die’ underneath side by side with a swastika.  Presumably the purpose behind this photo is to persuade us that this is a common phenomenon in most junkyards and industrial wasteyards in Britain!

We are breathlessly told that the number of anti-Semitic incidents in Britain from January to June 2016 compared to the previous period has leapt from 589 to 767.  Anti-Semitism, like all forms of racism, should be condemned.  But the deliberate inflating of anti-Semitism, the political use of false accusations of anti-Semitism in order to deflect criticism of Israel, are equally appalling.  Zionism redefines anti-Zionism as anti-Semitism at the same time as ignoring genuine anti-Semitism.
A government poster in Hungary attacking George Soros - graffiti says 'stinking Jew'
We are told in the 2017 report that CST recorded 425 antisemitic incidents in Greater London, a rise of 10 per cent from the 387 incidents recorded in Greater London during the same period in 2016.  There are no comparisons with Police statistics but given the wide disparity between recorded crime incidents and the CST figures in previous years we should take the CST statistics with a hefty pinch of salt.
An example of Zionist anti-Semitism directed at anti-Zionist Jews - CST won't record any such incidents
In the Independent of 29.12.15. we learn that Anti-Semitic attacks in London soar by 60 per cent in 2015.  ‘Between November 2014 and November 2015, a total of 483 such crimes were committed, up from 299 during the same period in the previous year.’  Although they say crimes were committed we are not told what the number of convictions are.

Compare this to the 2014 CST Incident Report the CST recorded 583 antisemitic incidents in Greater London in 2014.  Compare this to the Police figures of 299, almost double.
The Independent goes from bad to worse as it accepts the CST Report uncritically
According to the 2015 CST Incidents Report there were 472 incidents compared to 483 police recorded crimes so it would appear that the 2015 figures bore some relationship to the facts.  (in the 2016 CST Incidents Report the figure jumps from 472 to 494).

In 2016 the CST record the number of anti-Semitic incidents in Greater London as 813, a significant increase but how reliable are they?  The comparable Police figures are not available but I suggest that they are a mixed bag consisting of some anti-Semitic incidents coupled with a lot of padding to make the figures look good (in Zionist parlance an increase in anti-Semitism is always good because it demonstrates that the only place Jews aren’t under attack is Israel).
The true face of  Zionist anti-Semitism
However let us pretend that the CST figures are true.  Then the question is how many of the incidents arise from the actions of Israel?  After all Zionist and Jewish organisations in Britain go out of their way to say that British Jews support the actions of Israel against the Palestinians.  They spend their time defending the indefensible in the name of British Jews.  Is it any wonder that some people take them at their word?

It is ironic that the main cause of what is termed anti-Semitism in Britain today is the so-called Jewish state.  This is not anti-Semitism, it consists is mainly of stupid reactions to the claims of Zionist organisations that British Jews fully supports Israel’s criminal  actions.  Since the CST fully supports the idea that British Jews are fully behind Israel’s crimes what they are effectively measuring is the efficacy of their and their fellow Zionists actions.  Israel claims it represents all Jews, not just its own Jewish citizens but all Jews worldwide.  Netanyahu describes himself as the Prime Minister of all Jews.  Why shouldn’t some people take what the Zionists say to be true?  Israel is, after all a Jewish State.

To the Zionists, the CST including, anything to do with support of the Palestinians or opposition to Zionism is automatically ‘anti-Semitic’.  The attacks on Palestine Expo 2017 this month described it as a ‘Jewish hate fest’ – a massive gathering of some 17,000 people that included numerous Jewish speakers as well as people like John Pilger.
The Community Security Organisation, which changed its name to the CST, also sees as one of its tasks the removal of anti-Zionist Jews from communal functions - in this case they went to far removing members of Mapam, the fake Zionist leftists
Dave Rich, the CST’s Deputy Director of Communications, brought out a book last year entitled ‘The Left’s Jewish Problem’.  As Wikpedia describes it ‘Rich traces the origin of contemporary left-wing anti-Semitic anti-Israel rhetoric to the early 1970s, when Peter Hain and Louis Eakes of the Young Liberals wing of the British Liberal Party reconceptualized the national liberation movement of the Jewish people as an imperialist project imposing apartheid on an indigenous people.

The fact that a senior officer of the CST can seriously describe a settler colonial movement (which is how historically Zionism described itself) as a ‘national liberation movement of the Jewish people’ (when did change of description occur) is illustrative of the CST’s political problems.  Historically anti-fascist and socialists Jews always rejected the Zionist alliance with British imperialism.

To the Zionists anything smacking of the term Palestine is automatically anti-Semitic.  The fact is that most ‘anti-Semitism’ in Britain is a reaction to solidarity with the victims of Zionist settler colonialism and that is the main purpose of these fake news figures.

Those who cry ‘anti-Semitism’ at the drop of a hat are not only legitimising genuine anti-Semitism (because people find it difficult to distinguish between genuine anti-Semitism and the false Zionist variety) but they display their contempt for Jews who were the real victims of anti-Semitism.

If you want to know what anti-Semitism really was like you could do worse than read ‘The Crime and the Silence’ by Anna Bikont.  This was a book about what happened in the town of Jedwabne on July 10 1941 in a town made up of 40% Jews.  Some of their Polish neighbours herded up to 1600 Jews into a barn which was then set ablaze.  It wasn’t even done at the instigation of the Nazis but by their own neighbours and activists in the Polish Nationalist Party (Endeks).
The Polish anti-Semite Michal Kaminski speaking at Israel's security conference in Herzliya
Nor was this the only such crime of this nature.  In nearby Radzilow, three days before Jedwabne, the whole population was rounded up and burned.  In 2001, a book by Jan Tomasz Gross, Neighbours, revealed what had happened in Jedwabne.  The Polish government under President Aleksander Kwasniewski reacted by apologising and under much criticism held a memorial meeting in Jedwabne and erected a monument to those murdered on the 60th anniversary of the massacre.

At the same time, in Jedwabne itself, led by its Catholic priest Father Orlowski and Bishop Stefanek, there was formed a Committee to Defend the Good Name of Jedwabne.  Its purpose being to defend those who took part in the murder of its Jews.  They pretended that it was the Nazis who carried out the massacre and also claimed that in any event the Jews had brought it on themselves by collaborating with the Russian troops when they invaded Western Poland and Jedwabne between 1939 and 1941.

To cite on typical incident from the book:

‘In August 1937, 65 violent anti-Jewish incidents were noted in the Bialystock region.... on August 19 during a market in the hamlet of Sniadowo a crowd shouting ‘Jews to Palestine’ and ‘There’s no room for you in Poland’ drove away tradesmen.  The fleeing Jews were thrashed with whips and one of them was hit on the head with a post.’ (p.44)

Marek Edelman ‘the last living leader off the Warsaw Ghetto uprising’ and a leader of the socialist  and anti-Zionist Bund described how ‘Jedwabne was not the first case nor was it an isolated one.  In Poland at that time the mood was ripe for killing Jews.’ (p.9)   It wasn’t all Poles by any means, even in the Endek dominated Jedwabne.  Many Poles were horrified by what happened.  Edelman describes how in Warsaw maybe 100,000 Poles were involved in hiding and protecting the Jews, but nonetheless there was real murderous anti-Semitism even before the Nazi invasion, driven by the anti-communism of the Nationalist Right.
Polish anti-Semite Michal Kaminski having a friendly chat with Israel's Ambassador to the UK Ron Prossor
In 2001 the far-Right Law and Justice Party, a racist and often anti-Semitic party, which is now in government in Poland opposed a national apology for Jedwabne.  Dr Rafal Pankowski, a member of the Never Again Association and author of The Populist Radical Right in Poland described the role played by Law and Justice Party MP for  the area of Jedwabne, Michal Kaminski

"As a local MP, Kaminski played a key role in the campaign questioning the Polish responsibility for the Jedwabne massacre. The campaign had strongly antisemitic overtones,"

In an interview with the nationalist Nasza Polska newspaper in March 2001 Kaminski argued that, ‘while the massacre could not be defended, Poles should not apologise for what they did until Jews apologised to them for their actions which had included "murdering Poles".’  Is Michal Kaminski fit to lead the Tories in Europe?  Can you imagine?  Kaminski said that those Polish Jews, the perhaps 5% out of 3.3 million who survived the Holocaust should apologise to those who had acted as their executioners?

Not only did Kaminski chair the European Conservative Reform group in the European parliament, which the Tories had just joined, he was defended by people such as the current Chair of Conservative Friends of Israel, Eric Pickles.  He was also defended by leading Zionists in the Jewish Leadership Council and not least by Stephen Pollard, the racist who editor of the Jewish Chronicle.  Pollard is another who is very hot on ‘anti-Semitism’ in the Labour Party.

Pollard, penned an article for the Guardian (9.10.09.) titled ‘Poland’s Kaminski is not an anti-Semite – he’s a friend to Jews.’  Even Pollard had to admit that Kaminski as a 15 year old joined The National Rebirth of Poland which was ‘virulently anti-Semitic and neofascist’.  Nonetheless Kaminski was a ‘friend to the Jews’.  why?  Because he was a supporter of Israel in Brussels where ‘visceral loathing of Israel are rife.’  In other words his support of Israel and Zionism excused his virulent anti-Semitism.  In the same article Pollard defended the Latvian MEP Robert Zile who every goesMarch on a march with the veterans of the Latvian Waffen SS.

None of this should be of any surprise.  Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has just returned from a visit to Hungary to greet his friend Viktor Orban, who when not demonising Muslim immigrants is busy rehabilitating the pro-Nazi leader of war-time Hungary who presided over the deportation of 437,000 Jews to Auschwitz.  See Israel’s love-in with Hungary’s anti-Semites exposes the ugly core of Zionism.  Indeed Netanyahu and the Zionists joined in with Orban’s anti-Semitic attacks on George Soros, who is held by the fascist and racist Right to be the archetypal figure of the International Jewish Financier.

Even some liberal Zionists began to find out with the ascent to power of Donald Trump and his chief aide, Steve Bannon, ex-CEO of Breitbart News, that being an anti-Semite and a Zionist are quite compatible.  Naomi Zeveloff in Forward 15.11.16 How Steve Bannon and Breitbart News Can Be Pro-Israel — and Anti-Semitic at the Same Time described how ‘Breitbart News, ‘is widely known as a platform for white nationalism and anti-Semitism. It is also brazenly Zionist…’

This is the context in which the CST’s Report on Anti-Semitism should be treated.  23% of the anti-Semitic incidents were held to be politically motivated of which 49, some 28% were ‘anti-Zionist’.  This in itself is proof of where the CST is coming from.  Anti-Zionism is a form of anti-racism.  It opposes the Jewish Supremacist State of Israel.  If someone is anti-Semitic then they are not anti-Zionist.   It is Zionism which is happy to work with and co-exist with anti-Semitism.

I get from time to time virulent anti-Semitic tweets from Zionists, like ‘shame your family survived world can do without cunts line (sic!) you.’  It is a common insult to use the Nazi term of ‘self hater’ against Jews with a conscience.  It is also logical.  Zionism holds that the only way to avoid anti-Semitism is to go to Israel.  Those Jews who don’t do this and even worse oppose Israel and Zionism deserve everything they get.  So anti-Zionist Jews are often told that it was a pity that Hitler didn’t get them.  Far from having a section for anti-Zionism if the CST were honest they would have a section reserved for Zionist anti-Semitism.  But here is the catch.  According to the spokesman for the CST Mark Gardener ‘CST does not classify clashes between Jews as antisemitic incidents.’  Zionist attacks on Jews, even if they are virulently anti-Semitic, don’t count as anti-Semitism!

In a message sent to my blog, a Zionist posted ‘Greenstein, you traitorous bastard, you leftist liberal Jew.’  (in Israel these days there is no greater insult than being a ‘leftist’) went on to explain how ‘It's a shame that either Hitler or the Angel of Death, missed your family's house. Or Neturei Karta's.’  finishing up with ‘Don't even call yourself a Jew,traitor.’  According to the CST this is a ‘conflict’ between Jews rather than Zionist anti-Semitism!

It would be easy to take apart CST’s 2017 Report on Anti-Semitism.  19% of it consists of social media posts, which may be anti-Semitic but hardly constitute a threat to someone’s life and limb. They document 80 physical attacks but we have no way of knowing what these consist of. What we do know is that none of them were what they describe as ‘Extreme Violence’ i.e. GBH.  Of course any attack should be taken seriously, but when Muslims have to put up with arson attacks on Mosques and at Finsbury Park Mosque a racist driving a van onto the pavement killing one worshipper and injuring several others, we can put this into context. The attacks on Muslims are much more serious, much of the CST’s incidents consist of twitter posts and anti-Israel chants.  Yet the government has spent millions of pounds defending Jewish institutions from a non-existent threat but has done nothing similar to protect mosques and Muslim institutions.  Why?  Because the Government’s anti-terrorist strategy Prevent is based on a racist perception of Muslims as a problem.  Defending Jewish property is a way of defending support for Israel and Zionism – an essential requirement of British foreign policy.

We are told that there were 51 incidents of Damage & Desecration of Jewish property’ but we are not told exactly what these consist of.  Almost certainly they are trivial and minor instances of criminal damage, if that.  Indeed the CST doesn’t bother to outline what ‘Jewish property’ consists of.  There is no means of independently verifying the CST’s incidents except to say that there is a marked disparity, as I’ve noted before, between their reports and those of the Police.  For example how many of the assaults resulted in Police prosecutions?  What was the context?  At the Ecostream demonstrations in British four years ago I defended myself against an extremely racist Israeli AShaike Rozanski who attacked me. Yet I was the one who was charged with assault.  But perhaps this was too was recorded as an anti-Semitic incident?  Who knows except that the Police dropped charges.  Indeed there were a whole number of wholly bogus allegations made at the demonstrations against Palestine supporters, all of which led to acquittals in the courts.  Were they anti-Semitic incidents?

Until there is proper verification and independent oversight of how the CST works and records incidents everything they say and report should be treated sceptically.

Of course there are anti-Semitic attacks, in particular on ultra-orthodox Jews in Stamford Hill who are easily recognised as Jews by their garb.  Such attacks were completely ignored by the Home Affairs Select Committee Report on Anti-Semitism of October 2016 which recommended adoption of the bogus IHRA definition of anti-Semitism.
Like South Africa's Apartheid Prime Minister John Vorster before him, Kaminski is happy to pay homage to Zionism at the Yad Vashem propaganda museum

What we are seeing with the CST Report on Anti-Semitism, which has been taken up avidly by a press determined to defend and support the Israeli state, is the political weaponisation of anti-Semitism.  For the Zionists the encouragement of the belief that the British Jewish community is facing a tsunami of anti-Semitism is useful, not least in order to encourage the emigration of British Jews to Israel.

In the Pew Research Centre’s Global Attitudes Survey 2016 just 7% of British people are shown as having unfavourable attitudes to Jews compared to 45% for Roma and 28% for Muslims.  In other words racism against Muslims is measured as 4 times higher than anti-Semitism and anti-Roma hatred is over 6 times worse in Britain.  In Hungary which Netanyahu praises so highly a third of respondents (32%) harbour anti-Jewish feelings, again less than the 72% hostility to Muslims.  In other words, despite the best efforts of Zionism to create fake news about anti-Semitism, hatred of Jews in most countries, especially in Western Europe is all but non-existent.   To even attempt to compare it with the Nazi era, as the misnamed Campaign Against Anti-Semitism does, is to belittle and diminish the very real anti-Semitism that Jews in the 1930s experienced.

Fake Charity ‘Campaign Against “AntiSemitism” ’ Attacks Tony Greenstein - Author of Petition to Charity Commission

Hatchet job by the CAA

The ‘New International Definition of Anti-Semitism’  Saying Anything That Upsets Zionist Propaganda Organisations like the CAA

I have to confess that I felt a certain embarrassment at the fact that Israel’s favourite propaganda organisation in this country, the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism, had not until yesterday attacked me.  Indeed searching their site I came up with no mentions whatsoever of my name!

I am however pleased to announce that as a result of my campaign, I have now gone within a week from 0 to 3 appearances on the CAA website!

However by launching a petition questioning their charity registration I have brought the wrath of god on my head (I assume that that’s not anti-Semitic!).  It seems as if the CAA had some difficulty deciding how best to approach the matter.  It was clearly important to attack me but the question was how.  In the end they opted for the hackneyed ‘left=right’ formulation TonyGreenstein’s attempt to shut down Campaign Against Antisemitism showcases thesimilarities between far-left and far-right’.
some of Gideon Falter, CAA Chairman's directorships
I guess this shows something of a lack of imagination but what can you expect from people whose only answer to anything is to shout ‘anti-Semitism’?

The idea that the left and right are really one and the same has a good pedigree.  No less  than Adolf Hitler pursued this particular theme as part of his belief in the International Jewish Conspiracy Theory. In a speech on 28th July 1922 Hitler spoke of how:
The Jews were a ‘capitalist people who ‘found a way to lay their hands on the fourth estate. [the proletariat] The Jew founded the Social Democratic, the Communist Movement… On the Right, he attempted to intensify all existing wrongs to such an extent that [the worker] … would be provoked beyond measure.’
It is also idiotic.  Because some on the Left support Brexit and the BNP do, does that mean that the Left=BNP?  Perhaps because both dogs and cats have tails that dog=cat?  It is an absurd process of ‘logic’.
My place in infamy is assured!
However the CAA is nothing if not crude.  They say that they are not surprised that Jenny Tonge ‘signed up to a petition proposed by notorious antisemite Tony Greenstein.’  To make such a statement, without a whiff of evidence, is clearly defamatory.  The CAA is increasingly being forced into assertions of anti-Semitism without any underlying or justifying rationale.

The CAA referred to a hack article in the ‘paper wot supported Hitler’ the Daily Mail Online attacking the petition which noted that ‘We are extremely grateful to Baroness Deech, Bob Blackman MP, Matthew Offord MP and Mike Freer MP, all of whom rushed to defend our work.’  They are all Tories, not a species usually known for their hostility to racism.  I can’t remember any of the above supporting the Dubs amendment supporting the admission of child refugees into Britain.  But then the ‘anti-Semitism’ of the CAA has little if anything to do with what most people consider to be racism.

The CAA explain that ‘Mr Greenstein is to be squarely defined as an antisemite under the International Definition of Antisemitism, which states that “Denying the…intentionality of the genocide of the Jewish people at the hands of National Socialist Germany…during World War II” is antisemitic.’  It is in fact the International Holocaust Definition of Anti-Semitism.    The IHRA definition uses more cautious phrases such as 'might' or 'could' but for the CAA the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism outlaws anti-Zionism.

Certainly denying the intentionality of the genocide of Jews, and others during the Holocaust would indeed be anti-Semitic.  But of course I have never done so.  What they are objecting to is the fact that I have drawn attention to the fact that the Nazis, quite consciously, supported the Zionist movement in Germany prior to the outbreak of war.

That is a fact that Zionist historians themselves, like for example Lucy Dawidowicz and Francis Nicosia have admitted.  I realise that it is painful but that’s how life is.  What it isn’t however is anti-Semitic.  Unless the truth is also anti-Semitic.

On 28th January 1935 Lucy Dawidowic writes in her book ‘War Against the Jews’ that Reinhardt Heydrich, who Gerald Reitlinger rightly describes as the “real engineer of the final solution” issued a directive stating:
‘the activity of the Zionist-oriented youth organizations that are engaged in the occupational restructuring of the Jews for agriculture and manual trades prior to their emigration to Palestine lies in the interest of the National Socialist state’s leadership.’  These organisations therefore ‘are not to be treated with that strictness that it is necessary to apply to the members of the so-called German-Jewish organizations (assimilationists)’. [Lucy Dawidowicz, War Against the Jews, pp.118, citing Mommsen 'Der Nationalsozialistische Polizeistaat pp.78/9 and Nicosia, Zionism and anti-Semitism in Nazi Germany, p.119.
In May 1935 Schwarze Korps, which was the paper of the SS, wrote in a similar vein:
the Zionists adhere to a strict racial position and by emigrating to Palestine they are helping to build their own Jewish state.... The assimilation-minded Jews deny their race and insist on their loyalty to Germany or claim to be Christians because they have been baptised in order to subvert National Socialist principles.  [Randolph Braham, The Politics of Genocide – The Holocaust in Hungary, Vol. 1. Columbia University Press, 1981 p. 484, fn. 94., 5 May 1935, L. Dawidowicz, p.118, citing Karl Schleunes, The twisted road to Auschwitz – Nazi policy towards the Jews 1933-39, 1970].
Just as today people like Robert Spencer, one of the founders of the Alt-Right movement in the USA, support Israel as a fellow ethnic nationalist state.  Indeed the phenomenon of white supremacists and Islamaphobes supporting Israel as a racial state that they would like to emulate is common throughout Europe, from Le Pen to Geert Wilders to Herr Strache.

In 1936, the Palestine Post reported the demand that:
… the German Zionist Federation be given recognition by the Government as the only instrument for the exclusive control of German Jewish life was made by the Executive of that body in a proclamation today. All German Jewish organizations, it was declared, should be dominated by the Zionist spirit. [http://www.counterpunch.org/2002/12/23/51-documents/ Lenni Brenner, 51 Documents, 23.12.02.]
So well established is the close relationship between the Zionist movement and the Nazis established that it is barely worth arguing.  The Zionists, when the Nazis came to power, welcomed their arrival as confirmation of their thesis that Jews had no place in another peoples’ land.

Berl Katznelson, a founder of Mapai and editor of Labour Zionism’s daily paper, Davar, saw the rise of Hitler as “an opportunity to build and flourish like none we have ever had or ever will have”.  [Nicosia, ZANG, p.91]  Rabbi Joachim Prinz, one of the leaders of German Zionism and later President of the American Jewish Congress and Vice Chairman of the World Jewish Congress admitted that:
“It was morally disturbing to seem to be considered as the favoured children of the Nazi Government, particularly when it dissolved the anti-Zionist youth groups, and seemed in other ways to prefer the Zionists. The Nazis asked for a 'more Zionist behaviour.” [Joachim Prinz, Zionism under the Nazi Government, Young Zionist (London, November 1937), p.18]
Nor is this simply in the past.  Zionism is based on the idea of the rejection of the idea of a Jewish diaspora, it is called ‘negation of the diaspora’.  Of course there is a contradiction between the fact of the existence of Jewish communities outside Israel and the Zionist belief that it is only in Israel that a Jewish life can be fulfilled.  However whenever there is a rise of anti-Semitism (as oppose to the fake kind, anti-Zionism) then Zionism responds as it always has.

This is why, with the election of Trump and the coming to power of people like Steve Bannon of Breitbart and the Alt-Right as his Strategic Advisor, we see that Zionism is reacting once again in the ways that Zionism has traditionally reacted.   It welcomes genuine anti-Semitism, it seeks to work with it.  Hence why Mort Klein and the Zionist Organisation of America invited Bannon to its annual gala dinner.  In what is a familiar refrain he says that as Bannon is a friend of Israel he cannot be anti-Semitic. Bannon and Breitbart: Friends of Israel, not anti-Semites.

In America this has caused liberal Zionists considerable anguish.  After all they have been brought up with the idea that Zionism is opposed to ‘anti-Semitism’ which they have been told manifests itself as opposition to Israel and yet when it comes to anti-Semitism of the far-Breitbart Right, Zionism has no objections.

The Jewish Forward, a liberal Zionist paper seemed shell-shocked, not only by Trump’s victory and the open anti-Semitism of his supporters, but at the welcome they received from the Israeli government and the Zionist movement.  In what seemed to be a journey of self-discovery How Steve Bannon and Breitbart News Can Be Pro-Israel — and Anti-Semitic at the Same Time, the Forward’s Naomi Zeveloff declared that:

‘though it would seem impossible to hate Jews but love the Jewish state, these two viewpoints are not as contradictory as they appear.
Zeveloff cited Steven Cohen, a sociologist at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion that there is “little correlation” between anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism, and that “Many people who dislike Jews like Israel and many people who are critical toward Israel are affectionate toward Jews.

This might seem like bread and butter to some of us, a statement of the obvious, but to those who have been brought up on anti-Zionism=anti-Semitism propaganda, it is indeed a revelation.

Zeveloff was shocked by the fact that although Trump 'has professed an ultra-right view of Israel... many of Trump’s followers spout anti-Semitism.'  Zeveloff cites Yael Sternhell, a Tel Aviv University professor of history and American studies, that "As long as Jews are in Israel fighting the ‘good fight’ with the Arab world as a bastion of American ideals and values in the Middle East, then they are very useful and admirable allies,” but “Once they are home demanding a multi-cultural democracy, demanding that the country accommodate their religion, their belief and their custom that is a different story.”

The CAA’s hatchet job is having none of this.  Anti-Zionism and anti-Semitism are one and the same.  It says that ‘Mr Greenstein may be known also for the company he keeps: often appearing supporting Jackie Walker, who has also (twice) suspended by the Labour Party for antisemitism. Ms Walker’s antisemitism is well known’.

I am of course very happy to keep company with Jackie Walker, and note only that this article is libelous of her too!  McCarthyite guilt-by-association is one of the favourite ploys of the CAA.
The CAA are clearly worried about my accusation that their ‘anti-fascist’ work was merely a façade, window dressing for their real purpose of attacking anti-Zionist groups and anti-Zionism.  They say that my assertion to this effect ‘will no doubt raise eyebrows’ with the Charity Commission ‘since, as it is well known that challenging fascist neo-Nazis is a primary focus of our work, and has been since our campaign was founded.’

It is also well known that the CAA was founded in the midst of Operation Protective Edge, Israel’s genocidal attack on Gaza, in order to combat opposition to that war, which it deemed ‘anti-Semitic’ I’m not sure how they keep a straight face.

The CAA also make reference to minor convictions of mine 33 years ago.  Not only are they long spent but this is in itself an offence under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and of course nothing to do with my views whatsoever.  But then again the CAA have no alternative but to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

What is becoming clear though is that the CAA is in receipt of some of the $50m that Gilad Erdan’s Ministry of Strategic Affairs has budgeted to combat BDS.  There are also a number of other allegations concerning them which I shall reveal in due course.

Open Letter from Jewish Members of the Labour Party to Jeremy Newmark and the Jewish Labour Movement

Jewish demonstrators in New York protest against Zionist Organisation of America's welcome to the anti-Semite Steve Bannon of Breitbart News

Tuesday, 22 November 2016

Dear Mr Newmark,

We write to you as Jewish members/supporters of the Labour Party concerning the recent election of Donald Trump.  The Jewish Labour Movement, of which you are the Chair, describes the Israeli Labor Party [ILP] as its sister party.
Whereas Jeremy Corbyn has criticised Trump for the politics of racism and scapegoatism, the Leader of the ILP, Isaac Herzog, welcomed his election, offering “Warm congratulations to the president of the most powerful nation in the world: Donald J Trump!”  Herzog praised Trump as:
“an American leader who showed the commentators and the skeptics that we are in a new era of change and replacing the old elitist regimes!... the defense and financial alliance with our strongest and most powerful ally will continue with a vengeance under your presidency.”
Throughout his campaign Trump welcomed the support of white supremacists and anti-Semites.  For example the Arguments for America advert featured prominent American Jews as part of a wealthy financial cabal controlling the world financially and politically.
Trump has now appointed Steve Bannon the ex-CEO of Breitbart News, as his Strategic Advisor.  According to Ben Shapiro, its former News Editor, Bannon has made Breitbart ‘a cess pool of the alt-Right’.  For example on March 29th the site featured a lengthy piece by Milo Yiannopoulos praising the alt-right. Yiannopoulos is of the opinion that Jews run the banks and the media.
Breitbart’s combination of anti-Semitism and Islamaphobia with strong support for Israel is similar to the position of European fascist leaders such as Geert Wilders, Heinz Strache and Marine Le Pen.  The difference is that the latter 3 are not in power.  As the Jewish Forward’s Naomi Zeveloff recently observed, it is quite possible to be pro-Israel and anti-Semitic.
American Jewish groups, with the exception of the Zionist Organisation of America, have reacted with fury to Bannon’s appointment.  David Duke former Ku Klux Klan’s comment was that Bannon’s appointment was ‘excellent.’
We call on you to repudiate as unacceptable the comments by Isaac Herzog, Leader of your sister party in Israel.  Herzog himself has a habit of making racist comments, recently saying that the Israeli Labour Party should not be seen as an ‘Arab lovers party’ and that his nightmare was a Palestinian Prime Minister in Israel.
Yours sincerely,

We demand that you condemn & dissociate yourself from Israeli Labour leader Herzog’s Welcome for Trump

Note the difference between Corbyn and Herzog's reaction to the election of Trump
When Donald Trump was declared the winner of the US Presidential election, no one was quicker off the starting block to welcome his victory than Isaac Herzog, leader of the Israeli Labour Party.  Herzog wrote on his Facebook page:
Isaac Herog - the racist face of Israeli Labour that the JLM refuse to condemn or criticise
“Warm congratulations to the president of the most powerful nation in the world: Donald J Trump!” Herzog writes in Hebrew on Facebook.
“Today American democracy chose … an American leader who showed the commentators and the skeptics that we are in a new era of change and replacing the old elitist regimes!” he says. “You did the unthinkable, against all the odds, polls, research and the prophets of the old era. I’m convinced that the defense and financial alliance with our strongest and most powerful ally will continue with a vengeance under your presidency.”
Isaac Herzog is no slouch when it comes to racism and bigotry.  He recently declared that his nightmare was waking up to find that Israel had a Palestinian Prime Minister and 61 Palestinian Members of Israel’s Knesset (Parliament).  Herzog also declared that he wanted to dispel the false impression that the ILP were ‘Arab Lovers’ .
The JLM was most concerned that my expulsion wasn't proceeding quickly enough and that I had the temerity to publish the transcript of my investigative hearing - open democracy is not their forte!
Jeremy Newmark of JLM, who has nothing to say about anti-Semitism of Trump's team, looking forward to my expulsion!
Jeremy Newmark took particular exception to my comparison between the JLM and Nick Griffin of the BNP.  All I said was that having the JLM teaching anti-racism was like inviting Griffin to do the same!
The Jewish Labour Movement, which is the British section of the Israeli Labour Party or as it styles itself, its ‘sister party’, has led the fake media-orchestrated ‘anti-Semitism’ allegations against socialists and anti-racists in the Labour Party.  They have repeatedly accused anti-Zionists, especially Jewish anti-Zionists, of ‘anti-Semitism’.  When I obtained via a Subject Access Request, emails from the Labour Party I discovered, despite attempts by Labour’s apparatchiks to redact them, that the JLM was doing its best to speed up my expulsion.
During the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, at a so-called ‘training session’ on anti-Semitism, Jackie Walker, the Black-Jewish anti-racist activist and Momentum Vice-Chair, was secretly filmed.  Her remarks questioning the Zionists’ ‘Working Definition’ of anti-Semitism, which conflates criticism of Zionism and Israel with anti-Semitism and her queries regarding whether Holocaust Memorial Day acknowledged other victims of genocide, were distorted so as to accuse her of ‘anti-Semitism’.
Curiously though, the JLM has been very silent concerning the ILP’s welcome for Donald Trump and the anti-Semites he has brought with him.  Steve Bannon, the ex-CEO of Breitbart News’ appointment as Strategic Advisor has given a signal to the alt-Right White Supremacists, that Trump is on their side.  Breitbart is a cesspool of racist, anti-Semitic and misogynist views.
It features creatures like Milo Yiannopoulos who openly argue that Jews do control the banks and the media.  Yiannopoulos dismisses comments such as take a hike, kike” as ‘a mischievous, dissident, trolly generation’.
Jewish Americans have been outraged that the anti-Semitism they thought had been confined to the political dustbin has been resurrected by the election of Trump.  Breitbart’s defence against allegations of anti-Semitism essentially amounts to this.  We can’t be anti-Semitic because ours was “the strongest pro-Israel platform ever.”  In their attempt to turn the tables, they even ask why there were no complaints about ‘the Israel-hating, George Soros?’
Soros has long been a target for American anti-Semites and it’s no surprise that Breitbart, in its defence, would fix him in their sights.  Glenn Beck, the ex-Fox News presenter, who addressed Israel’s Knesset, ran a two-part “exposé” on Soros, whom Beck called “The Puppet Master,”.  It was described as ‘a symphony of anti-Semitic dog-whistles.’ Even Fox News found him too much and sacked him soon after.
Note Breitbart’s conflation of ‘anti-Semite/Israel hater’.  Neat that!  As many an anti-Semite has demonstrated, it is not only possible to be an anti-Semite and a Zionist but it’s a positive advantage.  Anti-Semites and Zionists share a common outlook on Jews who refuse to emigrate to Israel.  As Yaron London wrote in Ynet only two days ago:
Israel does not appear shocked by the appointment of racist anti-Semites to senior positions in US President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.... a world view which supports white supremacy matches our government’s interests.... all forms of Zionism hold the perception that a certain extent of anti-Semitism benefits the Zionist enterprise. To put it more sharply, anti-Semitism is the generator and ally of Zionism.... we have a secret hope in our hearts that a moderate anti-Semitic wave, along with a deterioration in the economic situation in their countries of residence, will make Diaspora Jews realize that they belong with us.... Is proof even necessary? No one will protest the assertion that the rise in anti-Semitism in France gave us some satisfaction, in the sense of “we warned you, didn’t we?... In order to remove these malignant doubts, it would be good to have some anti-Semitism in America.’
And there you have it.  Historically Zionism has never had any problem with anti-Semitism.  On the contrary it welcomed it!  All this ‘left anti-Semitism’ nonsense was for the birds, or the gullible!
It has even begun to dawn on some liberal Zionists that being an anti-Semite and a Zionist is not only possible but highly logical.  For example Naomi Zeveloff of the liberal Zionist Forward writes about how, although ‘it would seem impossible to hate Jews but love the Jewish state, these two viewpoints are not as contradictory as they appear.’

But back to the JLM.  Since they have waged a campaign against ‘anti-Semitism’ in the Labour Party we might expect them to condemn, without hesitation or prevarication, the ILP for its open welcome of Trump and its refusal to criticise his anti-Semitic friends.  However they seem remarkably reluctant to say anything.  It would appear that the only ‘anti-Semitism’ they are interested in is that which relates to criticism of Zionism and Israel.

In the United States, the Jewish community has long been the excuse and the pretext for America’s support for Israel.  Instead of rationalising support for Israel on the basis of the US’s strategic interests in the Middle East, it was felt better to justify it on the basis of support for a ‘Jewish’ state and America’s determination to prevent a second Holocaust.  Now it is becoming clearer that support for Zionism and Israel can go hand in hand with Jew hatred.

America’s Jewish community, for good historical reasons, is the most liberal section of the White population.  Whereas 58% of Whites voted for Trump compared to 37% for Clinton, the situation was reversed when it came to American Jews.  70% of Jews voted for Clinton and only 25% for Trump.   It is this disparity which is at the heart of Breitbart and the alt-Right anti-Semitism.  Most Jews are liberals, they are not really White.  Did they not support the Blacks in the 1960’s during the civil rights protests?
The Zionist Organisation of America leapt in to defend Steve Bannon from charges of anti-Semitism
Jewish demonstration outside Zionist Organisation of America

When the Zionist Organisation of America decided on Sunday night to invite as a guest speaker to its annual gala in New York the anti-Semitic Steve Bannon, hundreds of Jews took to the streets to protest outside the venue.  Bannon decided that discretion was the better part of valour and he decided to stay away!  This is a remarkable political victory for Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow.

The question is whose side the JLM is on?  Is it with the ZOA or JVP and IfNotNow?  Below is a letter from Jewish members and supporters of the Labour Party to the JLM.  We will be interested to hear Jeremy Newmark’s answer!
